Let's write a poem!

Hi Everyone, hope you're all having a great weekend. I was just sitting here thinking how great it would be if we all got together and shared a few poems. I dibble a little with poetry writing and am often called upon to write a poem for an occasion. Let's share some "homemade poetry" or something that you come up with "off the cuff". I recently had a loss in the family and I will share with you a snippit of the poem I wrote.

Many years together, but our love still grows

Folks see us together and our bond clearly shows

People wish for what we have, strong, unbroken

What we’ve built together is a rare awesome token

We declared we’d always live our lives as one,

We would never say it’s over ‘til life says it’s done

If the race should ever end with me before you

Keep racing, stay strong, I still live in you

A beautiful poem @Melvin-QVC...I was especially touched by the last two lines.

The only poem I've ever written was this a few years ago...

Back in the day, I was a poet's muse and have a few poems written about me, so I have that going for me.

@MacDUFF lol, I remember that. Keyai was and still is our guy. That poem goes on and on, I just put a snippit of it. Can't have someone stealing my poem before I have it published.

England is my country

London is my home - pie and mash, fish and chips

bridges falling down.

Never leave your country to go abroad and rome

Or else you'll end up - like me

with no place that is "home."

Sounds like an ode...? I don't know if you were kidding or not, but I hope you do publish...very difficult from what I remember for a poet.

Melvin, I'm very sorry your loved one passed away. Your poem is beautiful. I also especially like the last two lines; very touching and poignant. 😟🌹

@MacDUFF I had a bro-n-law who published. I certainly hope to one day, that would be great. Will keep you posted.

@Melvin-QVC Between this and the zodiac sign thread, I think QVC needs to give you more work to do. I think the always-conscientious, super helpful @Beth-QVC may have an overload of work, so before you start a thread next time, ask her if you can help out on her workload!

Here is my poem:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

I ordered something from today's LOGO show,

So still "in process" is something new.

I won't ban you, you just may forget your login and password information for a few days and get locked out of the system until we can check with IT and find out what in the world happened. LOL!! There must be a system glitch somewhere. We're trying to get to the bottom of it. And with that being said....

I've heard Melvin does make the best meals,

They're so much better than QVC's deals.

A casserole, a stew, a cake and a pie,

The dishes so calorie-filled he won't look Marie Osmond in the eye.

That man can sure cook

Without consulting a book,

If Dave Venable doesn't come back,

Melvin can take up the slack.

There is a mod named "Melvin"

Who works at QVC

He is pleasant and nice and funny

and witty and totally CRAZY.

When at times we get out of hand

and things are not going right.

Melvin pops in and reminds us

To stop or call it a night.

If we refuse and do not listen

And instead ignore this sweet (cough) man

We not only get his attention

He gives us the BOOT AND THE BAN

So listen up all posters

and keep our words polite

So our sweet beloved Melvin

can catch a nap in the middle of the night.

(HA HA....we adore you Melvin and Barbara and all the MOD SQUAD).

Melvin--sorry about your loss. I lost my BFF for over thirty years in February, and another very special friend in March. Wish I was able to express my sorrow with poetry--maybe I'll have to try. Have never been to put my personal thoughts on paper. Have enjoyed your posts over the past few nights.....
