What Do You Store In Your Refrigerator Crispers

So I just purchased a new refrigerator. Now I had to buy one to fit a small space, it's about only 66" in height and about 34" in width. I bought a Whirlpool freezer on top refrigerator on bottom. This one has two crispers for fruits and vegetables. The crispers are not of equal size, one is larger than the other. My previous refrigerator had crispers that were equal in size and very roomy. I had to take some things out of the crisper, such as onions, potatoes, and a bulb of garlic and put them on a shelf. I was just wondering what do all of you put in your crispers?

I usually put things like celery, lettuce, carrots,peppers,etc. in the crisper so. I don't put onions, potatoes or garlic in the fridge.

Right now the drawers are holding several bottles of ale from a guest who forgot them, plus two six-packs of Dr. Brown's Diet Cream Soda. If I put fruits and veg in those drawers, I forget they're there. I keep them on the shelves, where I can see them.

I, also, have a Whirlpool. I think it's 25 sq. ft.??? Does that even sound right??? Anyway, I put fruits and veggies in the larger (upper) drawer and stuff to defrost in the lower drawer. We also have an upright freezer in the laundry room, which is a big help. I'll freeze bagels there and hubby will take one pkg. out and put it in the lower drawer until he wants to use them. The freezer is a Frigidaire and I love it. I wonder how I ever got along without it.

Cheese, Atkins drinks, lettuce, butter, just things my won't take up much room & the crispers really come in handy. I have an LG french country door..

Lettuces, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green & red peppers and other veggies. Onions are on the shelf until I cut into them for a recipe then they go in a plastic bag and in the crisper. You could always use one crisper (the smaller one for cheeses and lunch meats).

25 sqft sounds right. It's BIG.

I store regular food in mine and sometimes drinks. Rare to store veggies and fruit.

I definitely wouldn't put potatoes in the refrigerator! Onions - only when I have a half an onion, for example, and I vacuum seal it and put it in there.

I put whatever food in there. If I don't have a lot of fresh herbs and/or produce, then I put other stuff down there. It doesn't matter what you put in there, as long as it is something that is best refrigerated.

I store my potatoes and onions in the refrigerator. Growing up with vegetables stored in a root cellar at a temperature of about 40 damp degrees it never made sense to me not to put them in the refrigerator.

Fresh veggies in one , fruit in one , lunch meat & cheese in one and small objects I don't want rolling around( like those little plastic lemons ) in the last one.

I have two refrigerator crispers - I put veggies in one crisper and when I buy my favorite chocolate, I hide it in the other!

Thanks to all for the advice. I actually have a deli drawer too. The fridge is 21 cubic feet, so it's plenty big.The side shelves in the freezer (2) I find useless as they are not wide and my frozen bags of veggies were falling through. I kind of miss my old fridge, but it was 17 years old and to fix it would have been $300 which I thought wasn't worth it.I guess I just have to get use to it.

I hope you enjoy your new refrigerator, Jordan!

I kind of dread the day I have to get a new one. I do have another one out in the garage that my husband bought from his boss one year. That guy replaces everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, from the house, cars, furniture, etc, every couple of years.

So, he gave him this French Door refrigerator for $200 and we put it out in the garage. I don't like it at all. Even though it is large, it just seems like a lot of space is wasted. I'll take one like my kitchen refrigerator any time, with the old style of freezer on top (not the old old one, with only one door of course).

We also have a small chest freezer out there. The other day my husband saw another small-ish chest freezer for a good price. He asked me what I thought about buying it.

I said, are you kidding? Give me another freezer and I WILL fill up another freezer. It's enough to try and clear out the 3 freezers I already have! (no waste, but I tend to keep them somewhere between almost full and totally ful)

I didn't realize I was so conventional -- lol. Most days one crisper is filled with salad makings. The other crisper holds fruit and other vegetables. I only refrigerate onions after using one. I have never refrigerated potatoes.
