Easter dinner prayer

Our 4 year-old granddaughter asked if she could sing a prayer for Easter dinner. Of course we said, "Yes, by all means." In her best and loudest voice she sang:

Take me out to the ball game
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks
I don't care if I never get back!
Let me root, root, root
For the home team
If they don't win it's a shame
For it's one,
Two,
Three strikes you're out
At the old ball game!

We all raised our heads and, with smiles from ear-to-ear, finished it with a hearty, "AMEN."

@IamMrsG LOL, wonderful! Before DD came along, DH would spend Easter at the ball game, then come home to Easter dinner.

I think that's so funny, but that would have never been tolerated at our Easter dinner table when I was a kid. Sad, but true.

Nor at mine, I imagine, but two things crossed my mind the instant I realized this wasn't going to be a little Easter song she had learned in pre-school:

1. Make a joyful noise...and

2. Suffer the little children. . ..

I think we did both.

@jubilant I completely agree with you about smiles in Heaven over her choice of song-prayer. It was so sweetly innocent.
