How did you get 'here'?

Nope, not a lesson in the birds and the bees!

But how did you get to where you are living right now?

Still living very close to your birthplace? Immigrate from another country? Pack up and move after college and never looked back? Job transfer? Military service? Got married to someone from the region?

If you care to, share how you ended up living where you do right now.

For me, born in this general area, and have stayed here. Like to travel a bit, but pretty much like where I live.

Born in NYC, raised in NYC, and still live in NYC. Different areas but NYC is home sweet home.

I've lived in Atlanta since 1970, the summer before 10th grade.

My dad was with the "phone company". He was transferred to a few different cities in the northeast and then to Atlanta.

I've loved everywhere we lived but, while I'm a Yankee in my heart, I'll never leave Atlanta. I'm a bloom where I'm planted person and I'm deeply rooted in Georgia now.

Born and raised in Mass, east coast. Bought a house when married and we are still in the same area. I like being close to all my family. Just hate the winter though.

Was born up in a small town in PA, moved to a city with husband, returned to same small town without husband. Now live outside that small town (without) second husband and love it.

Moved from Canada for DH job.Love it here in Washington state but don't know if we will stay after retirement because healthcare is so expensive.Sure hope we can afford to stay though.

I am three minutes away from where I spent my childhood. We would have liked to have left the area so my husband could have had better work opportunities, but when we married, my mother was terminally ill and that kept us here. Once she passed, my dad was left alone and neither of my siblings really wanted to be there for him - so that left me - again.

We had a boat in a Marina in this area for 20 years. Actually my husband had it before we met. We wanted to buy a vacation home here but couldn't afford it.

Time flew by...my DD got married and wanted to buy our home (the home she grew up in). She and her new husband moved in to our home and we moved to a home here on the coast. That was 5 years ago and 2 grandsons ago.

My parents brought me home from the hospital 76&1/2 years ago and I'm still here. I tell people my next address is the local Funeral Home.

Born and raised in NJ. Married "the boy next door." Moved to California in 2000 and just moved to Georgia in 2016.

Dad was in the eng/const. business. We went where his job took him. When we got here ... the longest job he worked with ... mom told him that we needed to stay because we had actually "settled" in. He agreed and here we stayed.

As far as the "sides" of town I've lived in ... different reasons, but still here.

I moved to SE FL from Manhattan for a good job, and I am still here after 25+ years.

I'll move back if I can to New England, where my family lives, but it is expensive to move and also to live there.

I love my job but Florida, oh it is so not for me! But a good job is a jewel on the cushion of life, and I very much appreciate that,so FL has been good to me. But I miss my extended family. Not one of us is getting any younger, for one thing.

Born and raised in NJ. Went away to college in a different state. Got married and moved to another state so hubs could finish college. Moved back to NJ, then to another state as hubs joined the army(Vietnam era). Moved overseas for 2 years, then back to the states to another state. Then, back to NJ for a few years.

Got divorced and moved to NY. Remarried and have been in NY for over 30 years.

Lived all over the country ... Dad was a GM man and we got transferred a lot.

After I married, we stayed put... right here where I was born! A giant "circle of life!"

I was born and raised in the area where my permanent residence is. I went away to college, fully expecting to stay away, but got a fantastic job here after I graduated. My beach place is on the same island where my family has vacation since I was a child.

This may be a long story. When we were children my Mother had to work so during school vacations like Christmas , spring break and all summer we stayed with my Bachelor Uncle at his home in Cocoa , Florida where he had a full time housekeeper who cared for us.Pretty wonderful of him to have us and her to care for us as there were 5 of us. So - I always wanted to live in Florida but it just never worked out for me. When we retired DH & I came to Florida in January to spend 4 months in our camper.We fell in love with spending the entire winter in the warmth & sun so we bought a house and moved here. Parked the camper in a campground in Pa near Pittsburgh and now we snowbird there for the summer. How we ended up in this particular small town in SW Florida was simple - we already had family here and had vacationed here many , many times.We now feel like we have the ultimate nice retirement - home for 8 months in lovely SW Fl and 4 months with our roots, our friends & family. However, since we moved to florida 2 other couples have visited us and decided they love where we live and have moved here as well.So now we have our closest old friends AND some of our family here.

My dad was a career military man and retired where I live now. It could have been anywhere, but his last assignment is where he retired and that is "here".

I grew up not far from here and couldn't wait to get out of here to bigger, better things. Was going to start a new life on the other side of the country, then my husband asked me to marry him. I moved 25 miles from where I grew up, to where he grew up, and the more I have traveled, the more I love being "here". His parents are 1 mile away and mine still 25 miles away. We are blessed to be able to stay near family.

Hate traveling now, so I just stay "here"...and love it.
