Challenging Posts

I believe at least once a day someone comes back with a subject post that was deleted by a moderator.

I really believe there are posters that don't know the standards of what is allowed and what isn't.

It would be a great addition to add a forum subject so it's front and center for all to read of what is allowed and what isn't. I would suggest replace the My Favorite Brand title with Community Standards/Guidelines. I would also suggest that these standards are listed and there's no opportunity to post anyone's views/opinions. Just the rules and nothing but the rules.

There are those who just blatantly thumb their nose to the rules.

They know the rules, and choose to break them anyway.

And the rules are there for anybody to read at any time.

Just click on "Standards".

Oh, they know.....

More often than not, there are several threads already deleted on the same topic, stating the reason that they were deleted.

Some people can't help from 'bucking the system' or flagrantly disregarding the 'rules'.

On the left side the screen the last item listed under preferences is a link to Standards. As with the old adage you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink the standards can be listed but go unread or ignored or, most commonly believed to be for others not "me".

My motto is live and let live. The only one I am responsible for here is myself. If someone chooses to challenge moderation, it's the moderators call not mine. I highly suspect that posters who challenge moderation are well aware of the rules..

Very many times, it isn't the original post that blatantly defies the standards (and those are/can be loosely applied because of differences in moderators and what they see as against the standards or even what the standards mean), it is posters taking it the next step to make it so.

And let's face it, on a pretty regular basis, it is just the mods stopping things before they even start.

Any topic (no matter how mundane and innocent) can easily be lead into the 'against standards' realm. There are people here who make a career out of making that happen. It often isn't the OP that is the problem.

I think most people here know what the standards are.

Some people don't believe the rules apply to them. Then there is the issue of the mods not applying the standards consistently, which is another issue entirely.

I didn't know that unless you pointed it out. As I'm replying to you I can see the Community Menu and Quick Links then only My Settings.

I need to scroll down and find the standards. I seriously did not know they were there, never looked and never paid attention. Thanks for pointing this out but thought they should be "moved up" front and center.

Would someone point out to me where the rule is stated that we CANNOT post links to websites where things are sold? I looked through the Welcome forum's rule listings, but could not find it. ?

I can understand rules about No bullying, No foul language, No political talk, No religious arguments, NO constantly cruel dissing of certain qvc hosts, etc etc.

I can even maybe understand NO links to other estores that sell similar merchandise to that sold on QVC.

BUT what I found really horrible was that a Mod DELETED my entire Pet Lovers post, where I was trying to help a member who had a dog suffering from KIDNEY DISEASE.

I had a ton of info, all related to either KIDNEY DOG SUPPORT AND INFO GROUPS ONLINE, or links to recipes andmsupplements for either a RAW or a homeCOOKED diet. Nothing was related to purchasing kibble or canned food, which QVC does not even sell anyway! My infraction was that the link to the Dog Recipes Wellness Newsletter was on a website that sold dog supplements on another part of the site.

And for THIS, my entire post was DELETED? Really?? Wow. I do not even think the dog owner even had a chance to see my post! It may have really helped her dog!! I am still so upset over this. Ugh

I am new to the qvc forums, but not to forums in general. I am all for Rules, but they need to be based on common sense. Why not just NOTIFY me to ammend my post? Or, why not just DELETE the "offensive" portion, but leave the critical, HELPFUL info in the post?

If I had been posting about some superficial issue (makeup, body butters, hair care, fashion --- all topics I love to dish about), then OK, spank me for "not following/breaking" the ridculous rule. And I say ridiculous becuase many posters remark about NON qvc products, but their posts remain simply because they did not include a link to it? Huh? Are we that stupid that one cannot then just google the product? So are we being punished for offering convenience? Lol I am upset over this not just because I post off a tablet, which is not easy when you are posting lots of info!, but rather because I feel so SAD that a post I made to HELP someone with an ILL PET....got DELTED over nonsense!

If Qvc would have a personal messaging option, this would have been a moot point, perhaps.....if I had saved a copy of my post...which I guess I should start doing.

Ok, rant over.

If someone could just point me in the direction of this Golden Rule which I am guilty of not following, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sure there are some who know the rules and don't care, but I also think there are many times someone reposts a deleted subject innocently. They may see something deleted with such a vague title they had no idea the subject.

@Bri36 True in most respects; I will add that when a thread is closed for commenting there are a handful of posters who still need to get their final say.

the topic is blatantly against the rules

posts are blatantly against the rules

two or more posters have essentially hijacked the thread going back and forth arguing instead of discussing

one or more poster latches onto a particular thought using it to keep a thread off topic

the mods are responding to reports rather than arbitrarily (inconsistently) poofing.

There are people who aren't on the boards 24/7 so they honestly don't know a thread about the subject was already started.

That has happened to me before. I didn't purposely start the thread knowing it had already been deleted. I honestly didn't know.

Agreed. You can't always determine what a poofed thread was about from the title.

@MarpYour first statement is the illogical reason we see posters declaring that so-and-so had my post deleted. We have absolutely no way of knowing if a post was reported; and even if reported it cannot be determined who did it just because of personal issues that have nothing to do with the topic.

Accusations like that just fuel more immature finger-pointing.

The mods are human with their own view as to what might be deemed inappropriate as far as personal arguing; insults notwithstanding, one cannot ever determine that another poster prompted a mod to have a post/thread removed.

No deleted post/thread is going to cause an earth-shattering after-effect.

There is actually a psych syndrome whereby a person is just unable to follow the rules. Speed limits, stop or yield signs , dress codes whatever. They are just compelled to do the opposite.
