If you Remember The Main Ingredient.....

The lead vocalist of The Main Ingredient, Cuba Gooding, Sr. was found dead recently. They suspect it was a drug overdose. He was 72 years ago. Cuba Gooding, Jr. looks just like his dad (to me). R.I.P.

Does anyone remember the group?

Cuba Jr., is an actor and is still living. Don't think he sang, like his dad did back in the 70's.

Cuba Gooding, Jr. won an Oscar in the movie.

Gooding won the best supporting actor Oscar for "Jerry Maguire" at the 69th Academy Awards. His excitement was apparent as he delivered an impassioned speech where he thanked everyone. "Tom Cruise! I love you, I love you brother!"

Yes, I remember watching them on Soul Train way back when (that's where I learned how to dance; always wanted to be in that line dance at the end, lol).... and I know who Cuba Gooding, Jr. is -- I was just never aware of the connection between the two.

@MickD it's possible. I know he did play in a film with Beyonce entitled "Fighting Temptations" that was Gospel related.

I just remember, Jr. from acting.....if he sang gospel, I'll want to check it out.

@MickD Cuba Gooding Sr did some gospel plays after he left The Main Ingredient.

@itiswhatitis hadn't thought of that song in years. It's such a beautiful one. Until I read your post, I had never heard it by The Main Ingredient; however, I am very familiar with Curtis Mayfield's version. He wrote the lyrics.

I remember Mayfield's rendition as well. There's a chance he wrote it. Need to double check. Beau-tee-ful! I'm heading to youtube and Google to make sure The Main Ingredient Sang it too.....I could be wrong.

I found this on their Discogrophy (sp)? Curtis wrote a lot of stuff. Those were good music times for me....

Just learned here today that Cuba Sr., left The Main Ingredient....and there was someone before him too.
