Former Tennessee teacher Tad Cummins was arrested overnight at a remote commune in northern California and 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas whom he was alleged to have kidnapped was found unharmed nearly 2,500 miles from home after an intense five-week search.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation broke the news in a tweet shortly before noon local time on Thursday and promised to release additional details during a press conference scheduled for 3pm.

Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kelly Giordano in California said Cummins' Nissan Rogue was found Wednesday night near the Oregon border.

He is not, by definition, a pedophile. Pedophiles are attracted to pre-pubescent children. He's just a dirty old man, which is bad enough.

I know that has been reported in all the news agencies but, I was under the impression that this girl went w/him willingly not against her will.

I suspect there will be no happy ending in this case. I have a sneaky feeling this will end up like the Mary Kay & Vili Fualaau story. Afterall, Vili & his whole family received therapy yet he still married the person who sexualy abused him.

Legally, she's a child and her brain isn't even fully developed yet to make this kind of decision.

Yes the circumstances are irrelevant, whatever he duped her into believing..he is a criminal and she is a minor under the age of consent. He is 50 years old.

He does fit the profile of a pedophile in that he chose a girl with the vulnerability of family problems.

I get the feeling this girl went along with this whole idea willingly. She is 15, not 9. Many young women are married at 15 in many countries. She is not a child, she is a young adult. Perhaps he treated her better than she was treated at home....you all act like she was tied up and kidnapped or something.

Yes he will do jail time.... probably get 7 years or so, less for good behavior....but when she turns 18 she will be legally able to be with him if she chooses. We have only heard of how awful he is taking her away, but, more needs to be shared about the girl and her part in this.
