What is going on with Amazon?

Everytime I sign in, it asks me if I have forgotten my password. So I type it in again very slowly and looking at the keyboard while typing. I know I am using the correct password correctly. But then they want me to type in these letters/numbers and other things that I don't even have on my keyboard.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Edited to add: And just how would these symbols protect my account? If someone falsely tried to enter my account, wouldn't they also see these symbols and type them?

I had a problem with Amazon a few weeks ago..kept telling me my password was wrong..talked to Amazon customer service..no help really...the problem cleared up about a week later. Wonder if the Russians have hacked my account?

I got a new computer about 3 months ago with Windows 10, but that has all been working like a charm.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago as well-

It was annoying for certain. Changed my PW three times-it would accept it at first but, when I'd log in after the change, it wouldn't.

I haven't had any issues logging in there. ITA clear your cache, that might help. Do you use the Amazon app also?

I don't have any problem either and I add things to my list often.

@CLEM,The symbols make it hard for an automatic counter used by a possible scam artist to hit on your number sequence.

I have never, ever, when signing in to Amazon, had to input CAPTCHA symbols. AFAIK they don't use them.

Plus, if you're on Amazon often enough, unlike QVC they don't sign you out every 5 minutes. My sign-ons at Amazon last a week or more if I go there once or twice in that time, or clear cache/cookies.

On the QVC forums I can close my browser for literally 2 minutes and need to sign in again.

@Bowwowluv Amazon's customer service will give you a new p/w which probably won't work..I got got fed up with them..I use subscribe and save...and needed to update that..called for help explaining I could not get into my account..they messed up big time...took about a week and all of a sudden I could log in again..very frustrating to say the least.

@Moonchilde I have always signed out after each transaction. Perhaps I should just remain signed in. For some reason I always thought you had to sign out.

Nobody...nobody knows anything...its the new norm....drives me crazy...the stories I could tell! When my nerves settle down may share my experience with Wells Fargo....rolling my eyes at the stupidity...and speaking to a robot...asking me to answer different questions..then the robot/computer tells me he is unable to understand my response..when he finally understands you get put on hold for 30 minutes and right at the 29 minute mark you get disconnected....or the call is answered by somebody in a boiler room on the other side of the planet..You seriously can not make this stuff up.

I just logged into Amazon without issue, FWIW.

I've never had it to keep me completely logged in, like so that I can see my orders or other personal stuff. But I'm totally fine with that. That only makes sense for security purposes.

I'm having a weird thing today with an order, but it's not Amazon's fault. It seems to be something with UPS. It says a parcel that was set to deliver today is delayed due to a weather event.

Ok, that's fine - except that it is HERE at the local UPS hub and there has been no weather event here at all. Go figure. No hurry to get it, so I don't care all that much, but I'd really rather that UPS just tell the truth.

@CLEM, I'm pretty much on Amazon at least every other day for something, if not every day. I have Prime, and I'm to some extent invested in a certain amount of the Amazon ecosystem.

I do searches a lot to compare prices - to see if I can buy something on Amazon that I've seen elsewhere, for less with free shipping. I put things I'm considering, want to reference, mull over or compare either in my basket (to eventually buy, or delete or Save for Later) all the time. You have to be signed in to do that.

I browse Prime videos and read up on Alexa's newest tricks. To me, there's no downside to staying signed in, and no benefit to signing out. That's just me.
