How many RR crossings on your commute

I have 2 and I always seem to have to wait for at least one of them. The worst is when the train stops and slowly backs up. I know I am in for quite a wait.

This reminded me of when we took the Amtrak Auto Train. It is billed as the longest train in the US. We crossed a lot of road crossings and I always wondered how long some of the cars I'd see at them had to wait for the train to pass.

They make me very nervous. There's always someone stupid who gets stuck waiting too close to the tracks. That someone won't be me, because I refuse to proceed until the car in front of me has completely cleared them

I pass one going from my house to my BFF's house. Mostly just commuter trains that take a couple of minutes, but every now and then it's a freight train that can take 15-20 minutes. I have to admit that when I'm not in a great hurry I enjoy watching them.

There are three roads that go to work. Two of them have RR crossings. When I come to/fro work, I come on the road that doesn't have one. If I go out for lunch, I have to use one of the other roads. Many times I get stuck by the train. Usually it's on the way back to work. While I fully support the rail, I usually have a choice word or two for them.

None...I'm not aware of any RR tracks in this town. There was one on my way to work where we used to live, but I figured out a way to bypass it which cut a few minutes off my morning drive.

Zero unless I want to go to Walmart on my way home. Then only 1. I rarely have to wait.

I personally do not have a commute, but my husband has 2 RR crossings, and he always seems to get stuck at one every time.

one is a spur, one is a double main line

The mainline scares the heck out of me. So many wrecks.

One train will go by and the gate doesn't go up, so some jerk in a hurry will go around the gate then get smacked by the train on the other track going the other direction.

At least once a month, someone gets killed by a train in my town. There's no excuse for it.

We are near a railroad. Not too far away is the airport. We can see them just after wheels up from the airport and some as they line up to come in for a landing.

Just one. I can hear it from the house at times. It's in the bottom land, below the bottom land we live on. The same route runs behind the property where I work (I work outside, so I hear it).

I love the sound of the train, and yes, when I am stopped, looking the graffiti is way interesting, and wondering what is in the box cars is intriguing. I sometimes picture a hobo with a knapsack on a stick hitching a ride. Freedom, with no clear direction except the way the rail goes.

I live in suburban NYC, Metro North had has lines up here, the New Haven and Harlem lines are both elevated while the Hudson line has crossings. There was a very tragic accident on the Hudson line a little over two years ago.
