JIMMY KIMMEL AS HOST OF OSCARS?

I DVRd the entire, too long show. There were a lot of political statements & shtick that I thought, for sure would be met with objections...especially after the big deal made over Meryl Streep's speech. Bathroom humor has no place there.

Dropping snacks from the ceiling in little parachutes? Done first by Elllen when she had pizza delivered. Definitely breaks up the monotony, but necessary in an awards show?

What did you think of Kimmel?

He wasn't horrible. The visitors coming in from outside was a stupid idea and took up too much time.

His segments ,on telling kids their Halloween candy is all gone, just shows how little he cares about feelings of children

He was better than I thought he would be. He is not a particular favorite of mine, but he moved the show along. The best picture snafu was unfortunate but not his fault. I'm not sure how I felt about the tourists coming in , but I do know Ryan Gosling was lovely to them.

I watched more than I ever did. He was okay.

The only funny thing is the "feud" between JK and Matt Damon.

My favorite host was Billy Crystal - tough to beat him.

@Bri36. IMO the "feud" between Kimmel & Damon has run its course, comically speaking. Billy Crystal always funny even if just a guest on a show.

He was embarrassingly awful. All his humor fell flat as did his attempts to make it all about himself.

The worst part of the evening wasn't the best picture mix up, as inexcusable as that was, it was the parading of those from the tour bus, great fun at another's expense.

I deliberately planned not to watch, and didn't. I anticipated a bunch of $*&^% from these people, who think their opinions are so important that they must be spoken - who cares if it is an award show. Nothing political here from me. I love my country and respect the office of POTUS regardless of who that might be at any given time. I think these so called people of importance should respect it too. Just because they have attained the "celebrity" and the opulent lifestyle they enjoy doesn't make them any wiser than any other American citizen when it comes to politics. If you're there to accept an award for your acting, writing, comedic skills, do what you do well and shut up about politics. We each get only one vote.

The people from the tour bus seemed to enjoy themselves and meeting the celebs, I know that I would have!

Celebrities have just as much right as everybody else to have an opinion about what is going on in the world.

Just because they are famous, doesn't make their opinion any less important than anyone elses.

And if they see what they feel is an injustice happening, then they have the right to speak out about it, just like everyone else has the right to speak out when they see a social injustice.

Yes they have a right to speak out...but in appropriate situations. In my view, it is very bad form to take advantage of a "captive audience" to spout your own ideas that have nothing to do with what you are gathered for. I don't care which side of the fence it is...it is bad manners.

That's exactly why I wouldn't watch it. They are entertainers - why do they think we are interested in their poliitical opinions? I think it ruins the event, it's an award show - not a "tell everyone what my opinion is" show. From what I saw online, the dresses were pretty much horrible.
