So earlier today I received a very nice Louis Dell'Olio Whisper Knit Sweater. Nothing fancy or heavy, just a plain long sleeve crew neck. Even though I carefully checked the size guide it was way too small. It would have been $6.95 to return using the QVC label. Figured I'd save myself a few bucks and made my own label. Just got home from the post office. Told the guy I wanted to send it the cheapest route. SEVEN DOLLARS & TEN CENTS!! That's it for me ordering clothing items.

I just always use the prepaid label, partly because I have a lazy streak, and partly because I don't want to worry about whether the Q is not charging me anyway. Or if under 13 oz, first class mail. I actually do most of my usps transactions on line and anything priority (including the flat rate envelope) is discounted. I rarely deal with my usps office, at first it was becasue their M-F hours changed. And then when I did have to go into the locale, the clerks were snippy & unhelpful. I wouldn't be surprised if $7.10 wasn't cheapest!!

I never order clothing online unless there is somewhere locally to return it (like JC Penney, Kohls, or something similar) because I never understood trying to get something to fit properly without trying it on.

I refuse to pay for the privilege of trying on shoes and clothing. There are just way too many stores, even in our not so populated area, to buy from.

Now if I already have something and can find the exact same thing online, I will order it knowing already how well it fits. But shipping is too expensive to take a gamble on something.

I always purchase gifts for my 4 great nieces and nephews , ages 1-8, from Amazon using Prime for free shipping. But this year I picked out the gifts and had them shipped to me . I wanted to put them in cute Valentines bags with tissue etc. and make them a little special.

One box had a boys tshirt and a little stuffed valentines girl bear. Cost to mail those two little items? $10.58 , Philly to Dallas.

The other box had a small clost valentines book for the one year old and a small stuffed musical animal for my 4 year old niece. A even smaller, lighter box. Cost to mail... $10.58. Philly to Austin. I have no idea why the cost the same to mail but I didn't bother to ask.

I'm going back to Amazon Prime right to them.

It seems to me after reading all of the posts about the costs involved to try something on that it is time we headed back to the mall.We would get some exercise.people watch and buy things that fit.If we are going to start this revolution though,it better come soon because all of the stores in my area seem to be in trouble and the malls have lots of empty space.I have been out shopping recently and it is really nice to actually see and touch things again.

This means QVC is charging you less than they are paying for postage when they send the item to you!

@shaggygirl ... It isn't just a matter of making your own label. The post office charges according to the size of the box also. QVC (and other companies) often sends things in large, oversized boxes...which are more expensive. Don't use the QVC box...and then make your own label. I have come out less expensive that way.

On the other hand, a couple times when I went to return a larger box, I discovered that if I used the label that came with the package, I would have come out less expensive than using my own. Sometimes they give you a break on the return postage on larger items.

You can calculate the cost of the shipping at the USPS site by measuring and weighing the box at home.
