I finally took my Christmas tree down. Even though I really like my tree, I got tired of it. One thing is that the tree is very heavy and I finally got around to asking someone to help.

Has anyone else been late with this?

My tree is still up and bringing joy to my family. No one is interested in taking it down anytime soon. I'm having surgery in April and am already planning to sit in the glow of my Christmas tree and think healing thoughts on the most painful, restless nights I know are coming. I use my tree for light therapy during these dark, dreary months of a WV winter, and will make it my healing tree as well.

I had taken everything down but my tree and I was ready to take my tree down on the 7th....but I got the flu and was sick for 2 weeks so I didnt end up taking the tree down until the january 21st.....My tree is real heavy too and I can no longer lift it up to put it on the shelf in my storage room....so I just shove the box in a corner....

I have a friend that is STILL putting her stuff away, there's a bet amongst friends on whether she will have it done by Valentines Day! She's a bad procrastinator....

@CLEM, I have two up in my home right now. I did put away some of the smaller trees, but I do not seriously consider the "tree" to be something that has a limited shelf life. Fortunately, both trees are movable by me alone (is that grammatically correct?). Rhetorical!

I move stuff around all the time. One day I'll get sick of the way things look and change it.

Good luck, @RedTop, with your surgery. As T.S. Eliot has said, "April is the cruelest month, mixing memory with desire". Flowers will be blooming, even on the mountainside (and especially on the mountainside, for spring is rich there). I lived in the foothills of West By God (and we called it that then, and no one cared) back in the 1980's. I was in Virginia, but close.

@CLEM My tree came down a couple of weeks ago, but I still have some Christmas decor out. Today I put away the last of my snowmen and a wreath that was on a mirror. I am doing it in stages because it's easier to "bare the bare look".

I had a houseguest this last weekend and finally put away my santa-and-reindeer retro candles (and put out my Easter ones) last weekend. I put away my favorite Christmas things, my cards from friends and family, at the same time.

I put away the tree the second week in Jan, having only gotten it up, due to overload at work, on Christmas Eve. So I didn't have it up too long, but it is always so worth it to look at the tree and muse on Christmases past.

And there I was the only person who had it still up. But if you like your tree up, please leave it up. I only live in an apartment and felt better having the space and hopefully putting a silk flouring plant where the tree had been. Looking out my window, all I see is another apartment building. I love my place though.

@RedTopGood luck with your surgery and I hope once you are home, it is not as painful as you think. A few years ago I also had surgery right after Christmas and my tree was cheering me until sometime in April. Sending healing thoughts your way.

I still have my lights stringing the perimeter of my lania and I love it. When I don't love it anymore, I will turn off the timer.........

My candles are still glowing in my windows at night and it finally looks like Christmas outside! I live in Massachusetts.
