There may be too much humidity in the cabinet and that's causing the bread to mold prematurely.

Directly from their website.........your bread is probably getting moldy.

With NO artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors, and NO high fructose corn syrup, we make bread that is simply delicious.

Just keep it in the fridge, and it will be fine. If you buy ahead, then put it in the freezer. Since I only eat one slice of my 100% whole wheat bread per day, I keep it in the freezer and only take out one slice at a time. It thaws on its own almost immediately. The rest stays fresh until I need it.

If it has a yeasty smell it's starting to get moldy. Check the date before buying. I always thought that white stuff on the crust was flour? All we eat is bread that we make.

If you have had moldy bread in the bread box, mold spores may be lingering in there and making new bread mold. Might check that out online and see if that's possible.

I have always heard not to keep bread in the fridge, that it gets stale faster and I'd agree with that. So try keeping the bread in a different place with more air circulation.

Also, your store may be selling old bread. At least in the "olden days" around here, the bread ties and clips that close it were colored, and those corresponded to the day of the week it was delivered. Look online or ask the store manager.

If the loaf feels heavy when you pick it up, it is getting older, so maybe you are simply getting older loaves from the store to begin with! Talk to the manager.

....and just because you keep it in the frig, that doesn't mean it won't mold over time either. I bought whole grain english muffins which are also preservative free and after 6-8 wks, i had a bag of mold too.

If you are so bread eaters, someone said the freezer and that's the best place to keep it.

I've always kept my breads in the fridge or the freezer since I can remember. My mom did it, too. I guess it was a way to keep the bugs out back then.

Not sure where you are from but this is new to me here in Danbury CT and the first time I have come accross the issue. I was beginning to think I was going insane at first because the smell is so unique and sometimes so faint that I wasnt even sure there was a smell. I have for years purchased Natures own wheat and honey wheat so when my daughter picked up Natures own butter bread I thought maybe the smell was normal. I threw out the remaining loaf and picked up my honey wheat and the smell was worst.!!! Now thru web search I see this has been happening for some years...??? what??? Im done, this is not normal.
