Lots of snow in the Puget Sound/ Seattle WA. area today with a winter storm

30 degrees out.....I have been out all morning wacking trees and bushes with a pole to get off the heavy 6 inches of wet snow that fell over night. Already had two trees snap/ break overnight and fall over with the weight of the snow- a birch tree and a beautiful silk tree that was over 20 years old .. Will have to call a tree removal company to come out and haul away the debris from the trees $$$$$$.

The snow is beautiful, but destructive. All the schools are closed today. Kids are happy! The roads are a mess.. lots of trees down and power is out in many places. Thank goodness not my power. Tonight it is suppose to freeze which will just add to the mess in the morning..... We are just not set up here well for snow . By Thursday we should be back up to 50 degrees and rain. Our normal weather. Rain I know how to deal with!

My son just sent me pictures of the cars stuck in awkward positions on his street, including his. His fiancé was scheduled to have a skin graft today but that's been cancelled.

My daughter lives near Redmond and had 6"-8" of snow. Just sent pics of a tree that fell in their yard.

Thank you for the heads up. My 91 year old aunt lives there. I need to call her and make sure she's alright. So sorry about your trees. It takes a life time to grow trees. One of my favorite saying is "If I had known life was so short I would have planted more trees". Stay inside and stay warm.

My son was on a plane for a flight home from Seattle last night which was delayed 2 hours while they de-iced the plane. He travels a great deal with Seattle pretty much being the connecting city for flights home, and said this was a first for him. Thankful he made it back safely. Stay safe everyone!

It is snowing hard again where I am. I just called and cancelled a doctors appointment for tomorrow. It is beautiful but I am glad I only have to deal with it once in awhile. Nice and cozy with fire in fireplace.

@SeaMaiden ~ So sorry about your trees. I'm a tree-lover so that type of thing upsets me....

I love the snow, but we haven't had much this winter which is disappointing. I'm about 30 minutes outside of Chicago so you would think we'd be having a brutal winter. Today is upper 40's with thunderstorms expected tonight. 50 or so tomorrow, then back into the 20's with upper 40's by the weekend. Very strange....

I'm sorry for any damage, and I hate power outages; mine was out for 10 days, last year, after our crazy, horrific windstorm!

That being said, Geez Seattle, it's about time you got a little snow!

We've had it on the ground, since before Christmas, in Spokane. Just starting to warm up enough to see some significant melting!

My Sister lives in Metro Portland area, and they had a big snow storm awhile back. Like you guys, they basically freak out.

I'm sure Seattle doesn't want to be left out, in the moaning about the Winter of 2016/2017. Think of it as giving you something to talk about! 😉🤓🙃

Loosing trees is really upsetting and sad. I am still upset over the loss of our huge pepper tree, oh how I miss that tree! What people forget is when you have trees for years and years, everything else grows to the shade or light of that tree. When we lost the pepper tree dozens of plants and shrubs died the summer after loss because they could not take the amount of sun the death of tree left.

@SeaMaidensounds like you are working away! Hope you have a reprieve. I am not in a snow area here in California. But we have had floods, and bad hale! Once hale ruined all our fruit trees fruit. But at least the trees went on to provide fruit next year.
