I'm still fairly new to the maintaining after losing all my weight, several months.

I keep it to 1 to 1 1/2 over. I weigh every day and write it down. If it gets to 1 pound or so over, I tighten it up again. I'm very strict about my eating.

I'm currently 3 1/2 pounds under my goal weight so my husband and I might head to the Mexican restaurant for lunch.

As soon as I think about going on a diet, I automatically gain weight. Just the thought of depriving myself makes me extremely hungry.

Instead of a "diet," I call it going on just very healthy foods w/o depriving myself of any of them.

When I was actively monitoring my weight, I weighted myself daily. If I noticed a two pound gain after several days, I started to adjust my diet. Those pounds sneak up and before you know it two pounds become ten pounds.

Now that I am over the hill and retired, I am not as fanatic. I judge by how my clothes fit, which I admit isn't a good system because ten pounds usually equates a different size for me.

I remember someone telling me that wearing sweat pants, and similar pull on casual wear around the house is one of the worst things because it is hard tell when you are gaining weight.

I typically weigh about 2-3 lbs less in the summer because I'm able to ride my bike, work outside, etc. I eat the same all year, but winter curtails my outdoor activities somewhat. I weigh myself every day, so I know if I'm going up or down.......I don't want to wait until I feel fat to make adjustments. Even a 3 lb change is noticeable on me because I'm a small boned, thin person; and at my age, any excess heads straight to my waist!
