Garretts Popcorn

just bought Frango Mints. This is the candy that Marshalls Fields made. Then when Macys bought Marshalls Fields they took over the Frango Mints. I am so glad that Garretts has the Frango Mints now. Can you imagine Garretts Popcorn with covered with Frango Mints. YUM

@hovis we had a Marshall Field's very close to our home growing up so I am very well and happily aquainted with Frango Mints as they are beyond yum!

As I got older I took the train downtown and was introduced to Garrett's popcorn at Union Station which was another yum and a more than occasional snack on the train home . . . thanks for the happy memories!

Surely you must have a Macy's near you....they bought out Marshall Field's! Anyway, when you travel, there are many Macy's Stores located throughout the country. Worth your while, to try!

I just checked out the Garretts website and Macy's will still carry Frango Mints. Some of my favorite memories of living in Chicago was going to the main Marshall Field store on State Street for Frango and a big caramel apple, then getting some hot fresh caramel and cheese popcorn at Garretts. Since I moved, Macy's is the only place to get Frangos at a reasonable price.

Yes, And I believe Frango is just Chicago too. It was originally made at Marshall Fields and then when they were bought by Macy's - Macy's kept the Frango's manufacturing and the name remained. With Garrett buying Frango now it will still be sold in Macy's thankfully. I thought the same thing as the OP, the Garrett popcorn covered with Frango's will be INTENSE!! I am sure we will be seeing that for sure in the future.

Same here. I always go down to State Street at least once to shop before Christmas and I buy the annual box of Frango mints. Then, if get to the station on time, I buy some popcorn at Garret's to eat on the train. Always a fun day.

I have lived in Chicago my whole life and am a popcorn connesieur

I personally like Nuts on Clark better than Garretts. but I certainly would not turn my nose up at the latter either!

Oh goodness dare I hope that Macy's will sell this delicious mix in their stores? To be honest I don't frequent Macy's as the last time I was there a manager was screaming at her staff even though she saw me standing there (trust me, it was awful) so that was it for me but I could always find a different Macy's . . .

Wow, what an awful woman @momtochloe. I often wonder if they think that makes them look more "in charge" or a strong manager? It makes them look like they can't earn the respect of their staff so they have to lead by fear and threats. How unfortunate. I have had that happen in front of me in the past (it was a lady in her 40s screaming at an 18 or 19 yr old) and I walked up to her and asked for the name of the GM. She wanted to know why and I told her. I said I think they need to know what a mistake they made in hiring you because you can't lead by example or with integrity so you do it with fear. I got that number too and I told them everything. She had that poor girl crying. Dang, it makes me mad just thinking about it!! UGH, I hate people like that!!

Sigh @Irshgrl31201 it's awful isn't it? All I could think of was I can't believe you could be that big of a jerk in front of a potential (and now clearly lost) customer. The good news is the employees looked like they could care less so apparently this wasn't their first rodeo. Sad for the store to say the least.

Thanks for asking my friend, things are good with me. I am in the process of selling my house and buying a condo and hopefully this will be wrapped up very soon (tomorrow we go condo hunting). I hope you and yours are doing well and always good to hear from you @Irshgrl31201! . . .

Oh, how exciting!! Congratulations! The older I get the more I think about that too. There is so much to take care of with a house, I would love to let someone else do all of that.
