    <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes, everyone had &lt;EM&gt;some&lt;/EM&gt; but, post-1975....wow.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;At that time, charms, especially, were the things to get. One local store, Forman's, used to have a popular "traveling" gold exhibit at which customers could purchase gold charms, chains, and bracelets. Even discount stores like Naum Bros., Present Co., and Service Merchandise got into the act.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;To give you a better idea of how new this experience was: I remember an episode of &lt;EM&gt;The&lt;/EM&gt; &lt;EM&gt;Tonight Show&lt;/EM&gt;, in which Johnny Carson bragged about how he'd just purchased a charm, a small gold bar, for his then-wife.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Do you remember the 1975 "Gold Rush?"&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;&lt;IMG src="https://community.qvc.com/DesktopModules/ExactTarget/Controls/TextEditor/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/001_smile.gif" alt="Smile" /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
