How active are you on Facebook?

To all my forum friends how involved are you in Facebook? I have a page but in 10 Years I only have about 5 Facebook friends.I've only posted about 6 times.I have no photos or personal information on it.I know about the private settings feature but I feel that once you put something on line you can still lose control of it!! I know people who post their entire lives on facebook.Everywhere they go they post selfies etc.I just don't feel comfortable doing that!! I like keeping my private life private.I share with a small group of friends the old fashion way.

I have a 25 year old son who posts more than I do but very little & nothing personal.He is leary too because employers etc. look at Facebook before hiring!! He feels that things can come back to bite you down the road!! He knows of situations where this has happened!!

Your thoughts??

Not very active on FB at all.

I find it boring.

I have a few pages I like to look at and a couple of groups I joined but I don't post much.

I just suspended my account - there's no one I'm interested in following anymore and I don't like to be "followed".

I look at Facebook everyday day or two. I like keeping up with friends and what's going on in their lives. I post a little here and there. No pictures or anything too personal. I enjoy it.

I have a fb page that I use to talk to friends and co-workers. I also have a family page that we keep up with baby pictures, birthdays and vacations.

I have two friends that post their latest finds during their daily morning beach outings, I love their photos. Another friend who posts his cooking skills, a high school friend who keeps me laughing with her doggie photos and on and on.

FB is what you make it.

I am very computer literate and I have had a home PC since 1992, way before I had one at work.

I do not have a Facebook, Twitter or any other social media account. I do participate in public forums and blogs.

I saw the direction these accounts were going years ago and opted not to join. My husband has always held a very sensitive position throughout his career. We have always tried to fly below the radar and don't want people to know our business, address or phone number.

We are both retired now, but see no reason to have any social media accounts. My daughter's MIL and an older family member of mine were given iPads for Christmas a few years ago and both, ended up doing things and giving out info that they shouldn't have.

Often I view Facebook to see what is going on. I can do this because a lot of info is public.

i am so cautious that I gave a fake name when I had to sign up for Google in order to use a tablet. I hate that Google gives out your real name even though you are using a nick name.

If you Google my name, not much comes up. I like It that way.

I have tried it twice. The first time all these people I didn't know nor want to know, kept trying to befriend me. I had no interest in that, at all. Time passed ,and I am on again, but only to keep up with my kids.

I'd probably have to say "very active." I'm a member of several Facebook groups. In addition - I "like" quite a few craft pages, political pages, religion pages, recipe pages, history pages, Irish and German pages, Italian pages, Ancestry, National Geographics, Archaeology, high school and college pages, etc., etc., etc. And ... then there are interactions with my friends.

You have more freedom for discussion on Facebook than you have on "private" forums.

I thoroughly enjoy my Facebook account. I have it limited to family and close friends, no acquaintances. I have a large extended family (45 first cousins on mom's side alone) and it has been a wonderful way to keep many of us connected. Even with a bounty of family, my number of followers is, by most standards, quite small. Almost every Christmas card I received this year remarked on how Facebook has been so enjoyable. For the most part, we stay away from politics, religious harangues, and chain letters. I simply block any objectionable news feed sources and problem solved. I know some people use Facebook to air grievances but that has never happened on my Facebook account. We keep it family-friendly and supportive.

I have an active account. I read all day long, every day, but I post infrequently. My page is just family and close, longtime and childhood friends.

I follow local news on there as well as local businesses and my HOA page where I can communicate with my neighbors and get updates on things going on in my community.

I never set up a Facebook account.

I have been on the public QVC pages though if someone on the boards directs me there to see something that might interest me (like an upcoming TSV or something.)

I never wanted to but finally did so my kids wouldn't have to let me read and see their pictures by sending them to me on email.And they had to set it up for me or it never would have happened! I didn't know how to do anything.

But you know what? Aside from that, I find facebook kind of strange and narcissistic. And not at all as fun or nice as these forums where we actually have conversations and relate back and forth to each other (even though thru a computer, its nice)

On facebook, even though with close family or friends you can "talk" to each other, I find most to be posts of news I'm not interested in or can find on my own (like some people feel its their job to let everyone now the latest news), or post selfies or comments, only to have people like it but don't seem to care if anyone comments and some don't even acknowledge comments or like them, just keep posting away.

I had many people known before ask to friend me but after the initial hi's don't ever look at anything I rarely post and so I stopped with them.

There are several people that only like or respond to a few of the 100's of happy birthdays or comments they get-I think that's rude.

I do like looking at some of the animal videos and my kids things ,some family and close friends but mostly it seems like a lot of work without much gratification with the majority.

And why do people ask to be friends if they never show any interest in anything you ever post?-just to add another 700+ friends? I guess I knew it is not really a part of our technology I would be drawn to.

People here are so interesting and likable (well most of the time)~its much more rewarding I think.

I love FB. I use it multiple times a day to keep up with family and friends all over the world. I am always very conscious of posts and pictures I post (nothing there to bite me). It is great for keeping up with everything going on in the community I retired from, including deaths, births, weather events etc. For instance, yesterday I found out (via FB) that tomorrow "60 Minutes" is doing a segment on China Lake, where I worked.

We spend quite a bit of time at home. I'm on Facebook a lot. Like. All. The. Time. Facebook and the Q boards.

I have @180 friends (had more but unfriended a few in November, LOL). I follow several pages and am involved in one page comprised of women in my area, 5500 women. Great exchange of ideas and support. Real sense of community. I follow local and national news pages, some of the Q hosts, different stores that I like, etc.

Today, I've been having great fun looking at pictures and following the hilarious comments regarding our heavily hyped, non snow even yesterday.

Facebook for me is a really positive experience.

Looks like I'm in the minority here. I'm on Facebook all the time. ;My account is set so it can't be searched for. I don't post much (if anything) about where I am and what I'm doing, just infrequently share fun things that others have shared that I know some of my friends will like. I seldom post on others' walls but do participate in many groups I've joined.

I have a mix of people I know in real life, people I met online before Facebook, friends of friends and people I followed and had enough exchanges with that I friended them. Plus a couple I accepted friend requests from who's names I'd seen in groups I frequent and a couple more that I accidently sent friend requests to. l've met some incredible people.

As someone said, Facebook (and other social media) are what you make them. I've met people from all over the country, plus at least three other countries, that I would never have met in real life.

Edited to add that most of my communicaiton on Facebook is via private messages (you can also do group messages, but I've never had a reason to).

I went on to play one game. I really don't like the type of contact since many of those who I know and love seem to be constantly posting all kinds of daily things step by step. I really don't care about what is being shared... none of my business and it is getting to be tedious and bordering on ridiculous.

When I do find something of interest I go back a few hours later and I cannot find it. Or if I do post, I cannot find it either. I need a Facebook class
