It's 11 degrees now and is supposed to get down to 9 tonight. Old Man Winter is settling in on us

Hi @Annabellethecat66 It's not too bad until we get the minus sign ,infront of the numbers. With the windchill factored in ,that is really cold

Goodness! That is COLD! How are you planning to stay warm & cozy?

I'm in Florida and we're getting a cold front in but it is coming way too slow for my liking! Our "cold" is shorts weather (50's) up north. Lol

I don't think it is going to be cold enough long enough for me to justify buying a new pair of PJs...and I look forward all year to PJ weather!

Our house is well insulated, and has thermal windows. We have a brand new energy efficient furnace, so we are cosy.

We go out for breakfast each morning ,and sometimes when its cold, it's a bit tempting to stay home. But the fresh air does us good

Years ago, my husband had the opportunity to move to Minneapolis

which would have been a promotion. At the time, we had aging

parents and decided against such a move.

A friend, from Chicago, asked me, "Have you ever really experienced cold

weather?"

I answered, "Yes, yes, we frequently go to Lake Tahoe in the Winter

and I remember it was about 20 degrees!"

She laughed and said, "You have no idea...!"

My husband did travel a lot to Minneapolis in all seasons. He loved the people

and the city itself, but he still talks about his trips in the winter. Ha ha

He found the people he worked with very friendly.

We like the 4 seasons. Each one offers something. The winters are so quiet and still. We feed the birds and squirrels. My husband has a heater for the birdbath

When you dress for the cold it's not that bad

Anchorage is having a heatwave today, it's 5:08p and temp still at 23*...BUT it will be single digits through the night and 0 by 10am.

Wow, a balmy high of 7* for Friday! Stay warm and well everyone!

Chicagoland area, here! Yes, it is cold!!! High of 11 tomorrow, low is 1 degree. We keep the faucets trickling, the bird feeders & heated birdbaths filled and the outside time for the dogs to a minimum. I love winter, but these temperatures are downright scary. :-(

I do as well, living in California. I'm from New England, so I'm actually okay with colder winter temps, but I know that a lot of my landscaping will die if we have a long cold snap, and a lot of our agriculture will also be affected.

This winter has already been colder than expected and I've used up most of the firewood that I thought would last all winter. I bought a case of Duraflame logs at Costco yesterday.

Predictions here for Sunday morning are 46º which is cold for us here in southwest FL. I'll be wearing warm lined leather. We will even have to turn on the heat in the house. I know you folks up north are laughing. Keep warm everyone.

Youth and energy is not wasted on the young 😄

We lived in ski country in Utah and my son was on the swim team.

Swim practice was at an outdoor pool for a couple of winters, until new facilities were completed at a brand new school. Kids went to school with t-shirts and shorts all winter long, no sweat or winter jackets in sight.
