I guess the bugs going around, anyone here sick?

Is anyone else sick?

My daughter was sick for the past 2 days (throwing up, fever, chills). She is just feeling better.. I called my best friend, and she said shes sick too. Now I got a note from my oldest granddaughter, shes sick too (same as my daughter) I hope they get better soon, and that my daughters entire family doesn't get it (2 more kids and husband). We have plans to go to the movies New Years Day (but not if someones sick!).. And I hope we don't get it, we were together Christmas "Eve" although they werent sick that day!

PS) Sometimes we get sick after Christmas DAY when we go to the in laws, because our nieces kids are young and are usually sick with colds or something. This year they weren't. (and IMO if they were they should stay home OR inform us, but they don't, so each year I hope and pray no ones sick there and wash my hands more than usual!..lol).

My husband and I both woke up with colds on Christmas. We were miserable. Sorry to say I couldn't wait for the day to be over. My son hasn't moved since Monday night. He has the flu, but at least he smiled at me today so hopefully his worst is over. Other son and wife who were here on Christmas are both sick. Some people who we were with on Christmas Eve are sick.

A friend of mine wanted to stop over last night with her infant. I had to tell her she better not. She didn't, but today they are both sick. Crazy.

The stomach bug is making the rounds in Michigan. Parents and kids alike. Aches, vomiting and the runs. Lasts for about 2 days. Then the next one gets it. Pretty nasty.

@Shorty2U with so many germs about, the movies might not be the safest place to go. Especially if you are going to see something that is family oriented. It will most likely be crowded, and germs incubate fast in a warm crowded space

Well thats good I hope you dont get sick! They do not have the flu, they have a virus. My husband gets the flu shot yearly (because he is asthmatic) and he had the flu bad at the end of last Winter. He had to use his electric inhaler machine (nebulizer?). They were going to hospitalize him but they didnt. It was scary. I dont get the flu shot because a former egg allergy but my family and my husbands family get it (his sister is an RN), and some in his family still get the flu once in a while. His dad had it bad 2 years ago. I asked the Dr about it when my husband was sick last Winter and they said it doesnt always work.

Other than my still trying to heal butt injury, I am doing ok. Nope, not sick, or is my wife. Opps! Wife has been gone since last Friday so if sick, she hasn't told my when we've talked.

There has been something going around in our area. Respiratory issues with cough, etc. We celebrated Christmas with husband's family (47 people) and 12 of us are now sick with various related symptoms. DH & I are still feeling pretty crappy but think we're thru the worst of it. At least I hope we are.

"Yes, you can. Some flu vaccines are made using eggs. As a result, the vaccines have tiny amounts of egg proteins in them. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that if you're allergic to eggs you can't get a flu shot.

There are two flu vaccines that don't contain egg proteins, approved for use in adults age 18 and older.

And even flu vaccines that do have egg proteins can be given safely to most people with egg allergy.

If you've had a reaction to eggs in the past, talk to your doctor before getting a flu vaccination. Your doctor may choose to give you the vaccine made without eggs or send you to a physician who specializes in allergies.

A skin test may be needed to see if you're truly allergic to eggs. A nurse or doctor will scratch a tiny amount of egg protein on your skin and watch to see if your skin reacts to it.

If the skin test is positive, you'll still probably be able to get the flu vaccine. Your doctor may want you to wait 30 minutes before leaving, in case you have a reaction."

This is true. We wont go if anyone is sick. But if we can go, this theatre is a country theatre. Youre lucky if there are 5 other people there. Alot of times its just us. lol..(Last week at a different theatre near the city, the Star Wars movie was packed when my husband and I went..and thats usuallly empty too because we go to the morning shows).

Yes, I got a cold right before Christmas and because of my awesome immune system (from taking immunosuppressants long ago) I developed pneumonia and strep. Better now but had to go into the hospital for a few days for IV antibiotics because pill form wouldn't clear it up. Good times!

I've been so sick since the day after Christmas Temp up to 102 and basically sleeping around the clock. I had the flu shot and think this is how those of us with lupus frequently react. I'm fighting dehydration and a bad asthma reaction. Constant chills, loss of appetite.

She doesnt have the flu according to the Dr. When I had the flu it was like a bad bad cold, chills, body aches like i was run over by a truck, fever. I was sick for a week and was on Tamiflu. Same with my husband but he also had breathing issues due to being asthmatic, and as I said he gets the flu shot. As does my family and his family..

As far as the egg allergy, the Dr said they are inventing a shot without the eggs then I can take it. That was last year so if they did invent one I will ask when I go to my appt in 2 weeks. (I do get the pnuemonia shot)

Influenza is just one of many viruses and there are degrees in severity.

Well then my Dr must be behind. Last season they said they were inventing/coming out with one soon but didnt say when. So when I go in 2 weeks (as I just put in my last post) so I will inquire then. Thank you for tellling me! DH has his flu shot already in Oct or Nov? He always gets it. So I hope its not late for me this year?. I guess late is better than none.
