I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but I truly wonder if the Q still has a QC department.

Just received the Breezies TSV which will be going back due to sizing issues. I panicked after reading the reviews while awaiting my order to arrive. The great majority reported that the band sizing was way off.

Due to storms here, driveway is iced in today, haven't made it to post office yet, but will be returning two D&C gifted sweaters. One size the sleeves were in-between three-quarters and wrist length, Three-quarter length sleeves just doesn't cut it on a bulky, cable knit sweater! The other sweater's turtleneck was narrower than the other smaller sized sweater, resulting in a head-opening large enough for a much younger person, certainly not an adult.

I think these examples show either QC is not doing its job or there's no longer a Quality Control Department. If the latter, imho, it's desperately needed!

I agree, I used to buy clothing here and had several with crooked necks and some tighter sleeves on one side, too. I went back Ito shopping in stores and have been getting better deals, too.

Also TSV shoes I've had one shoe tighter a couple of times. Think they don't care if they can sell thousands on these days & makes me wonder if they purposely send out the rejects first for the TSV s.

The Quality Control - or lack thereof - is happening at the vendors' manufacturing sites. Once the shipments arrive at the Q's warehouses there are probably just spot checks - if that.

It is up to QVC to refuse to deal with shoddy manufacturers. When the (the manufacturers) have to make things in the thousands they do whatever it takes to get the shipment out the door. That would include not matching sizing parts.

At best, QC is a random process checking just a handful of items. Some of the things they choose to sell are, according to reviews, consistently poor quality or fit but they choose to sell them anyway.

Last fall they sold a Clarks shoe TSV that was so narrow almost no one could wear it. They hosts had to have known as did anyone who tried to wear it. There were dozens of negative reviews. A few days after the TSV the shoe disappeared from the system like it never existed. Just last week, all the leftovers appeared on Zulily so there'll be a lot of unhappy custoners there who can't return it or wear it.

I watched this shoe because I was one of the few who could wear it and would have bought another pair. Zulily's price was too high.

The material was inferior, felt stiff but it was the wrinkled mess out of my washer/dryer that did it for me. The old material would wash and dry beautifully, no ironing needed, and yes, I know how to wash/dry polyester. I was so upset I've never purchased SG again..... awful.

Now I'm wrestling with a little Duraflame heater. Just bought one in red and decided we needed another one. The red one is perfect, we've used it every day, so I ordered one in the tan color.... it came with crimp on the electrical cord like something really heavy sat on the cord and damaged it.... but we used it for a couple of days anyway and that's when the metal on metal sound started coming from the fan area! *sigh* So we shipped it back this morning.

Yes, it's frustrating and why I've been going into brick and mortars again, more and more!

I noticed things started going downhill in 2008. I had to stop buying so many things because the quality became unreliable. I hate returning things. It contradicts the convenience in QVC.

I think part of it is that the manufacturers have a higher tolerance for poor quality and QVC cannot look at every single item before it leaves the warehouse. What I have experienced more frequently is getting the wrong item. I was on waitlist for those Earth suede boots they had a special deal on and when the boots arrived, they were not the size I ordered and they were leather instead of suede. I was very disappointed.

I believe when the Q has numerous complaints/returns on a specific item, then both should do more than a few random checks to alleviate the problem. If quality does not greatly improve within a reasonable time, that vendor should be dropped with leftover inventory immediately returned to the manufacturer.

Imho, QVC should not pass on, i.e., continue selling products to customers which quite probably are defective. With everything computerized today, they can readily catch and correct a problem. Quality and customer satisfaction should never be treated in a hit or miss manner.

So, the burden lies on QVC's having a highly-trained, efficient Quality Control Department in conjunction with a knowledgeable Returns Department to resolve most issues. Nothing will ever be 100%, nor is it expected. But, customer satisfaction should be number one - any business knows that's what affects their "bottom line".
