I know I won't buy it if I don't like the color.

Same here. I have not ordered several smaller kitchen items because they did not come in white or my accent color. That's just me. I definitely won't purchase something if I dislike the color even it is an item that costs only a few dollars. I will keep looking.

I think it's odd that QVC offers items in several colors when the color doesn't have an impact on the function of the item. For example, the fireman's hose nozzle offered today in 6 colors. Why? Does anyone care? They also sell other items in meaningless colors and/or patterns - computers, Clarisonics, etc. They present the item as if the color choices make it more desirable. Does this make a difference to anyone's buying decision? Just curious.

I have started buying kitchen gadgets in bright colors. I have black counters and appliances and black handled can openers, etc. just blend in. Any bright color is OK, but right now I'm favoring lime or turquoise.

Not so much to me ONCE I've decided I want the item, then I select the color, but for more utilitarian items the color isn't what makes me choose to buy. Still, options are good in most things!

Visual cues evoke emotional responses in humans, it makes sense that manufacturers would capitalize on and market to that response. I have colors that are preferential over other colors and I would probably buy the color, style or design I preferred in a purchase if offered a choice. Would it keep me from buying something I really wanted or saw as adding value to my life, no. A perfect example was a car I purchased in 1997. The dealer had a left over from the previous year in hunter green and was discounting the price because it was last year's model. I got the hunter green car even though I had a lighter color in mind when I started my search.

I recently made a very bad purchase based on color. I wanted a red electric can opener. I searched everywhere. Finally found 1 on Amazon(RED-Hamilton Beach), had good reviews, so I purchased. My $10. Dollar Store can opener worked better than this 1. I can't believe how bad it actually is. It was ok at 1st, but after only a yr., it chews the labels into the can & it difficult to use.

As far as fashion/clothing, I chose by looks, then color. I would never buy clothing based on color, if I didn't like the look of it.

It depends on what it is and what it costs,if I'm buying a Vita Mix I want the color that pleases me, but if it's something inexpensive and I need it for a task, I don't care what color it is. Fashion I choose by design and fit, then color.

Speaking of fashion - I too buy by style & fit, BUT, if the style does not come in a color I like (which is most of QVC's clothing) I will not buy. And when I'm shopping in retail stores or retailers on-line I'm always drawn to certain colors and then check it out to determine if the style is appropriate for me.

I favor neutrals, earth tones, and I love love "army" green.

QVC favors bright Crayola colors.

For utilitarian items, it doesn't really matter. But, for clothing, accessories, I'll purchase first by the way the garment will fit me, then I select the color.
