I am 5'9" tall and a size large or extra large depending on the brand. It seems that wearing tight clothing is a trend that in my opinion doesn't look all that great on anyone. As someone who battles the bulge I can tell you wearing clothing that is too tight is uncomfortable and unattractive. I also think oversized clothing or tops with tons of fabric can look just a bad if not worse on fuller figures. I don't understand why the sleeves of tops, blouses, and jackets are cut to fit like sausage casings. So much for designing for the real woman.

Why are the larger size models so often shown wearing the clothing in a size that is too tight and clinging to them? It doesn't make them look smaller so I don't understand why they do it. Even some of the hosts do it too. If I can see someone's lumps or rolls or bulges, it turns me off to the item even if it might look okay in a larger size. Or am I the only one who thinks clothing should skim the body instead of cling?

Occasionally I will watch The Young and The Restless ........I am always amazed at the decision of the show's stylist to put an older woman in a skin tight dress. It is not a good look for anyone that has lumps or bumps or rolls or a pouch or a flat soggy butt........or, like ME, all of the above !

There is a cosmetics vendor who always has her hair sleeked back in a very severe bun and her dresses are always skin tight....I don't know her name but she is not a small woman......time for a makeover.

Too-tight clothing has been discussed on these forums many times.

It's a personal preference. While I agree with the OP as to fit and buy my own clothes accordingly, I have known women all my life, of all sizes, who always, in everything, wear their clothes 1-2 sizes too small IMO. Why do they do this? Well, for one thing, they probably believe something that's often said - that dressing in a "too large" size makes one look larger - so they go the other way.

I don't think it's a QVC thing. I think the models are dressing as they would dress, and as many people they know dress, every day. Some cultures love curvy large-sized women and kinda celebrate the "sexy rolls" (seriously).

For all of us who would never dress that way, there are women who dress that way every day.

I buy bigger than me so I don't look tight. Nothing like clothes that don't fit. No clue why the Q does not look at the total picture. Or perhaps the style is the culprit. Perhaps no matter how big it is it is not right for the model.

Instead, just wear clothes that fit: your clothes should lightly hug your form without squeezing.

SKINNY JEANS-Every girl deserves a pair of jeans that she can rely on. While skinny jeans look great on some girls, sadly, they will only accentuate large proportions for others. If you are have to struggle to get into your jeans, then chances are they're going to make you look large

2. CROPPED OR 3/4 PANTS-Avoid pants that end between the knee and ankle at all costs. They can look good on rare occasions, but much more often these cropped pants will make the thigh area of average weight women appear larger.

3. TOO TIGHT-

Tight pieces that hug your body can be showstoppers but when they are too tight they accentuate all the flaws and hug all the curves the wrong way. It is better to get something a little too big and get it tailored down, that to try to squeeze into something that is too small. Just because it stretches, doesn’t mean it should.

4. BAGGY ON BAGGY-The loose fit is very in right now, and can look so chic when it is paired with the right things. A baggy piece has to be paired with a fitted piece can look great. If you want to wear an oversized sweater, wear leggings or skinny jeans. If you want to wear pajama-style trousers, wear a tighter shirt or jacket.

5.PRINTED PANTS-If you’re in love with the printed pants trend, please be careful. Prints add dimension and volume to the body. So if you see a size 00 model wearing the cutest printed pants and you’re a normal size 8 with a booty, be prepared for the possibility that the pants won’t look the same on you as on the model.

6. TOO MANY LAYERS-

There is a fine between flattering layers and bunchy, frumpy layers. Just like the rule with baggy clothes, you need to balance fitted layers with loose layers. If you want to wear a loose kimono, wear a tight tank underneath. If you want to wear a loose top, layer on a fitted blazer.

7. JERSEY FABRIC- Jersey fabric is light and stretchy but does nothing when it comes to highlighting your curves. Jersey shows everything, and I mean everything. It’s just not a flattering fabric unless you are a size 0 model. Go for thicker fabrics for fitted pieces and a flowy fabric, like rayon for looser ones.

5.PRINTED PANTS-f you’re in love with the printed pants trend, please be careful. Prints add dimension and volume to the body. So if you see a size 00 model wearing the cutest printed pants and you’re a normal size 8 with a booty, be prepared for the possibility that the pants won’t look the same on you as on the model.

6.

If you want to look like you are wearing your kids clothes go for it. I'm not going to do that because I see everyone that does it. It's not a good look. They evidently think it is a good look or they would not be wearing it. I think it looks stupid but to each their own. You look your best when you wear clothes that fit. Not too small not too big. Too small shows all your fat too big looks sloppy.

There is one model who has such large legs that when they put her in a slim leg pant, she looks like a stuffed sausage. I often wonder how well the pants she's modeling sell as it's not an attractive look.
