If you have to return something to QVC and you want to save money..Don't use the $6.95 Label that they provide..They also provide a label that allows you to pay for the return at the Post Office. I never noticed that label...I would just slap on that $6.95 label and go to the Post Office..Well, I suddenly noticed this other label and I decided that I have to go to the post office any way..so, I asked the clerk to weigh my package and give me a cost..If it was more than $6.95,I would use the QVC Label..Well it was only $3.00...to ship it back..I saved $4.00. I shold have done this sooner instead of being lazy..Live and learn!

The only advantage to using THEIR label is if it's difficult to get to the post office during office hours. If you use their label, you can schedule a pick up at your home or office thru the USPS website.

You pay for the convenience, but yes, you can save money if you can do it yourself.

Be careful! I mostly use the post office rates but qvc has deducted the 6.95 automatically at least 4 times!! Be sure to check your credits!!!!! I keep the post office receipt for my records... QVC really needs to do something about their shipping fees-both purchases and returns. HSN has SO MANY free shipping items....I have given up buying shoes from Q since the last pair cost me $16 just to try on!!! NO MORE!!

If you use the QVC return label, it comes with automatic insurance.

For that $3.00, are you just putting postage on it and dropping it in the mail or are you getting tracking?

Sometimes it is cheaper to just use the Q return label, especially if the item is heavier. I have gotten burned by returning on my own and paying more.

Also, if you use Click N Ship from your own computer or the kiosk in the lobby of the post office, any package over a certain weight, the only option for a return is priority mail which makes it more expensive. You have to go inside the post office because they can sometimes get a cheaper return rate using a different method that isn't available to us otherwise.

I returned a pair of boots once to Evine. Had I used the label the fee would have been $7.95. I thought I could do better and for me to return those same boots, the cheapest I could do was $12.95.

For the most part you are paying $6.95 to return an item. That cost also includes Insurance in case the item gets lost in the mail. Insuring the item is the responsibility of the sender but it's included as part of QVC's return policy. \

If your item was light enough to qualify for First Class shipping and was only $3.00 to send and you also didn't include Insurance which is roughly $2.30 per $50 worth, a $300 necklace would cost you $13.80 JUST IN INSURANCE, add in the $3.00 shipping and the total would be $16.80.

So the QVC label is really worth it. As well as an item like a vacuum cleaner (which is about $9.95 to return). Depending on the weight (and where it's being shipped) can easily cost $18 - $28 to ship.

So yes, in some cases buying your own shipping label can save you money, just be careful and realize that unless you buy Priority to ship it back (includes free insurance up to a certain amount).... insurance is not included! Taking the chance that your item will make it back without being lost, misplaced or stolen is a chance I won't take and the reason I use QVC's label.....

My Post Office, and the other one near me are nightmares! The line to use the counter is often through the lobby and out the door. It is not unusual for one of the clerks to step away, and not return. I buy stamps at Walgreens or the grocery store, and use the QVC return label. In my situation, the possible savings are not worth my time or aggravation.

Sometimes to pay for your return yourself works for a lesser amount and sometimes it doesn't because it may actually cost more than their preprinted $6.95 label.

However, lesson learned, here's what I'll say about using their label. Take the time to drop off your package at your local post office AND stand in line for the clerk to scan your package and GIVE YOU A TRACKING RECEIPT. This method will give you a better more legit tracking number for your return.

If you just drop it off (without getting a legit tracking) you cannot be assured that the email you get with a tracking number is not recognized at your post office as one of their tracking numbers. I've learned this the hard way ie lost packages for return back. What does this mean? NO ONE can find the package making it Missing In Action and we're out for receiving credit back.

Yes, tracking is free with almost all options.... however insurance is not free and can really add up if you have a piece of lightweight (but valuable) jewelry.

Yes, it can save you money to buy shipping yourself, and you can forgo the insurance thinking "what are the chances".... but all it takes is one event where the item is stolen (happens A LOT and from inside the Post Office).... as well as the package just being lost.

As I mentioned, just be careful, determine what you have and the costs involved as well as the chances that are out there and make up your mind if it's worth it to you. That's all we can do. I don't think the answer is all one side or the other.

Is that with insurance? The reason I use the label is that I have super long lines at our PO plus QVC has always credited me, if the package gets lost. I do not want to deal with the PO, if they lost my package. Have you ever tried calling them? It can be an hours long wait. Trust me.

I have used both based on weight and size of return. Mostly I send back on my own. My packages get to QVC quicker and I get my refund quicker. When I use their label, the post office sometimes holds the package and it takes a long time before reaching QVC and thus a slow refund.

I don't return a lot, but always use the return label. I experimented a couple times with my label and it was more. I'm good with an occasional return being cheaper not using the prepaid label.
