I have already contacted customer service, but still have the same problem!

I purchased a flameless candle with a ceramic base and bird design thing to go over it. I received it and really liked it. When going to unpack it, I had a heck of a time. The thing was packed so tightly into another box, then styrofoam packing, that I could NOT get it out of the box. So I ask my husband to try. He tries, can't get it out, then pretty much rips the boxes apart to get it out.

We put it together, and it doesn't fit. Candle on the base is fine, but the lantern thing over it doesn't fit on the base. It is not a correct fit, and it would be crooked or fall over.

Problem is, I cannot get it in the box to return it. My husband tore apart the boxes to get it out. I contact customer service, and they say, return it. Use another box if original is destroyed. Uh, we don't just have boxes this size laying around! We cannot use it no matter what. I am not trying to rip them off, I thought they might say just keep it and get rid of it. I have bought a lot and don't return much.

Anyone else have an issue like this with what resolution?

Hyacinth

Find a box somewhere into which it'll fit. Maybe a shoebox? Get a bigger box and cut and tape it to make it smaller. You'll obviously have to find something. You can buy bubble wrap at Walmart to wrap it in case you don't have that either. I always save a small supply for just such situations.

https://www.google.com/search?q=make+a+box&oq=make+a+box&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.7237j0j4&client=tablet-android-samsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#xxri=0

You can't really expect them to just refund your money without the item being returned. To my knowledge, the only thing they'll do that with is food, which can't be returned. How would they know what was wrong with the item, if it isn't returned? And I believe they would need it to recoup the cost from the vendor. You wouldn't expect a B&M store to issue a refund for an item you didn't return, would you?

Very often things like that are packed tightly to prevent any damage. I've always found that, if I open the bottom and top of the box, I can push the styrofoam out and release the item that way.

Are you saying you don't even have the outside packing box that the item came in? If you do, all you have to do is wrap the candle in anything you have - bubblewrap, newspaper, paper towels - and send it back. If you even threw that away, go to the grocery store. They always have free ones where I am.

Are you returning it to get a replacement? or is it stricly for a refund? If you wish a replacement, we can send you the replacement and you could use the packaging to return the other item. If it is a refund, would it fit into a padded envelope from the post office?

I shop at QVC enough that I always have a spare box or so hanging around. The UPS Store would be expensive to get a box or to have something packaged.

@Venezia That was a funny thought "I would like my money back on this." "Where is it?" "Well, I didn't like it, so I would like my money back. Why do I have to go to the trouble of dragging it back in with me?"

I sure understand your frustration because by the time you buy (or find) another box, make sure you have enough bubble wrap and insulation to make sure it doesn't get broken, or take the item to a UPS store plus paying shipping to return and you've spent a quite a bit more money for this thing .... when putting it together was manufactured wrong~!! QVC should be responsible because they buy from these manufacturers that are not top of the line!

It has become a chore IMHO to buy something like this from QVC. I rarely buy home decor from the Q because of this. I still buy kitchen items, but really debate whether ordering lanturns/lights/Parhill items will be worth it to me.

It's true that some of the reviews said they had an issue with the fit, but they also said they were returning it. You won't be charged for the return shipping because it's defective, nor will your original S&H be deducted from your refund. Just mark the slip "Defective".

Your choice but, if it were me, I'd find a way to package and return it, rather than losing the money for something you're not happy with.

Or the Mod has given you a good idea about replacing it and then sending back the defective one.
