Tonight, LR had Luminara candles displayed during her chat. One had gone out and it was pointed out to LR. She went on to explain that the company has gotten so huge and having to fill so many large orders, they started to use a lesser quality timer. She has been having trouble with hers and hinted that she would be brining a better quality brand.

Is anyone else having trouble with their timers on their Luminaras?

While I'm on the topic of her chat, she is also claiming that ALL high end jewelry companies use rhodium over sterling silver to give it an "absolutely, absolutely" richer look. Is this true? I am "absolutely, absolutely" wondering. TIA.

Wonder if she checked with every single high end jewelry company to ask if they ALL use rhodium with their sterling silver jewelry.....seems she knows everything about everything...is it obvious that i've never been a fan...

I have a lot of the Luminara candles and have had no problems. It is a sales tactic. I would put money on it. I went over to look at her page to see what she ws wearing. Tell me a woman that has been stalked dresses like that?

Sorry but I just looked too and why does she act so cutsie and silly? And the ipad thing, what's that all about?

I will say one thing, one of those trees she stood near in the Netherlands was the most gorgeously decorated tree I've ever seen. Next trip up to the Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, think I'll buy a ton of whatever those are and try in one of my trees.

@Sheilaray- they started using rhodium after Paloma Picasso issued her pieces. Everyone doesn't use rhodium but it is widely used. It prevents tarnishing, scratching and gives Sterling a more icy look, like platinum. It is plating so it can wear off depending on the thickness of the rhodium plating. Sizing is difficult because the plating often cracks during the sizing so the jeweler must replace it and it can be costly.

I was just wondering. I feel more confident with QVC because I know they are diligent with their facts. This seems like quite a lot of over-the-top claims that might not be "exactly, exactly" truthful.

I purchased some Luminara flameless candles before the holidays and I noticed the timer setting was somewhat shorter than ones I bought a number of years ago. I also had one set on timer that would go off and then come back on. Still feel that Luminara makes an OK product, however.

Just NOT a classy move. I have been happy with Luminara. Someone running a business would have handled things differently.

Not knowing for sure, I will say that the longest non-tarnishing item of .925 sterling I ever owned did have rhodium plating. It was orig $80 I got for $17. (Monet?)

It was a chain type design. Once it started tarnishing between the links, I got rid of it. I bought it from a major department store having a huge sale. It did have a bright white appearance to it.

I have a thin Sundance hammered silver thin band ring... wear it every day, never take it off, brighter and more beautiful every day. Doubt it has rhodium.

Carolyn Pollack site might know for sure about when rhodium is supposed to be used and I would trust her information.

I don't use the timer feature on my Luminara candles as I prefer to use my remote. That said though, I have a major problem with all of my remote capable Luminara coming on whenever they want to because they have to be in the "on" mode for the remote to work.

I don't like someone trashing a good brand to make a market for their brand, but why should LR be any different that the Luminara rep who presents here on QVC who made a point in the Christmas decorating season to trash all the specific significant features of the Candle Impressions candles in her sales pitch for the luminara? I haven't watched her presenations since.

If she's coming out with her own product, then she should be confident enough in the quality to be able to sell it without having to speak negatively about a competing company.

That's a very low blow, and IMO it makes her look desperate. She should be careful about what she says. Luminara's attorneys might not be happy with her making claims. She's really fooling herself, though, if she thinks she's going to be any kind of real competition. Her business is very small-scale and likely will always be since she seems to know very little about business and marketing.

I wonder if the candle going out was a coincidence, or perhaps maybe it was planned. Either way, I don't think much of her for saying what she did.
