ENOUGH OF SHAWN'S ONAIR SPIRITUALITY

Expecting opposition for sure, but IMO, I've had enough of Shawn's charm bracelets, rings, cuffs, necklaces, etc. that reflect her spiritual beliefs. I think it's not only inappropriate for a multirelious audience, but since she explains that many of these items are copies of her own pieces (working w/ QVC to duplicate them), I also find these sales pitches self serving. On PM STYLE, she further announced that she has partnered w/ Lamo boots to come out w/ ones decorated with rhinestone crosses, hearts, etc. She says they'll be available at the Q in about 6 months. Religion, spirituality, symbols of religion are all quite personal. Anyone else finding this "over share" too much?

I understand your view, and QVC recently requested that we on the Boards no longer add a "verse" to our signature line, or discuss religious intentions ... so yes, it is odd that QVC allows a host to discuss religion.

Hopefully, it's not for profit that QVC allows this. For me, I am glad to hear Shawn share on this subject matter, and hope that other viewers seek out the message she is trying to convey.

I feel the same way. I just can't watch her when she starts in with her spirituality and so I turn her off.

Yes, and I notice this with multiple hosts. I don't watch Shawn so can't comment, but Kerstin, Rachel, and Jennifer Coffey come to mind. Mary Beth and previously Lisa Mason, mention it as "being a symbol of your faith", which is fine. Dan Hughes, who I understand is actually a minister, has always been very professional. But I feel the others are trying to project their faith onto me, which I don't appreciate.

Once when Jennifer was filling in for David on the Saturday show, she and Kerstin had a conversation about how they had started at the same time and were competing with 9000 other applicants but their faith brought them through. I guess the other 8998 didn't believe strongly enough. I find that type of comment to be especially galling.

Not only is it off-putting when she purses her lips and stretches words out, but then she attempts to be genuine when promoting her spiritual wares. And I do mean attempts. Comes across as insincere. Doesn't ring true with me. When she gets on this kick, I change channels.

There are hosts who understand how to sell an item of faith without the drama and without injecting too many personal comments.

It's a fine line and not one that is very easy for a host whose personality just doesn't seem to include moderation or nuance.

I simply will not watch anyone who turns a shopping channel into a TV ministry.

No, I don't find it to be too much.

Given the offensive profanity laced anti-Christian photos and comments that were posted on QVC's website this past Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, QVC may be using Shawn's shows/comments as an olive branch. Very disappointed to see they didn't have something in place to prevent or delete that.

This perfectly says it. One's faith should NOT be used as a sales tactic to move message jewelry, clothing, etc.

For the life of me, I can never understand why so many people who dislike a host insist upon watching her and then coming to the boards to complain about it. Seriously people, do you have nothing better to do? Do you only get one channel on your televisions?

There are a lot of people I do not like to watch, so I do not watch them. I do not feel complelled to go online and comaplain about them. I do not find it necessary to obsess about every action, fashion choice, or statement made by that person.

Why do you all insist on doing it?

We as women feel the need to convey our feelings, oh so intently. My DH keeps everything to himself, so it's a right brain / left brain anomaly. Perhaps I should not bother typing this reply that no one really cares to read--but it makes ME feel better.
