As with anty product, consumers will ultimately pay for the overhead, including samples; however, if you think hosts are touching food to take it home, I believe you are mistaken.

Most of the food sits out for hours at a time, somtimes all day, and cannot be eaten. It is styled to look good, but it is inedible. If you notice, the food sampled by the hosts and vendors generally comes from separate, smaller portions from another table (or behind the presentation food). This is the freshly-prepared food that is safe to eat. The other food, after sitting out for hours, is unsafe.

In recent weeks a caller asked David about what happens to all the food that is sitting out during the presentations. He told her some of it is donated to food banks, some of it is unedible because it is prepared and coated to withstand the hot lights. He said the camera crew etc. eats some of it, and some is thrown away.

I have never heard a host say they touched or tasted food so they could take it home. I have heard them say they used a lipstick so they could claim it as there own.

It is expensive to ship food that must remain cool/frozen. Customers need to realize this, and make a decision by comparing prices from QVC, and what they would pay in their own stores. It really comes down to a personal ability/ decision for each customer.

The crew eats much of it.

I have no inside information, but would think the food sampled is added into overhead and some how factored into pricing. I doubt the q hosts pack up leftover food and take it home. Even if they did, I don't think the prices would be reduced.
