Really Bad Idea

I just clicked over to QVC for ten seconds and saw a model standing there in a BELTED red down jacket or puffer jacket of some sort. Puffer coats are bad enough, but a shorter belted one? Why diet down to a small size and then wear something that adds many pounds to your look? What are the designers thinking? Looking like the ”Michelin man" isn't exactly what I'm going for.

When we last lived in the North East, I thought they felt pretty darn good and when it was freezing out I didn't care a nit that it added a few pounds. Felt really good. Now in S. E. Louisiana, I haven't worn any kind of coat in two years. But I still hang on to my puffer coat just in case.

Do you live in freezing weather? You would enjoy a puffer coat. Just saying

LOL.... when I was watching they all were extoling how DB's puffer jacket didn't look like it added any weight to the models wearing it..... really ???? I really had to laugh at the belted one..... really a reach.....

The point wasn't that the coat wasn't warm in cold weather, I'm sure it is.... the point was that DB's puffer coat was fashionable and didn't add the look of extra weight.... they were serious!

I had to go look, it's horrible!

So glad I don't live in a cold climate. I prefer to layer when it does get cold here. I don't even own a winter coat.

Neither do I. When I was commuting in snow or sleet storms, it was a puffer coat, scarf, hat, gloves, boots and anything else I could get on. Only my eyes were showing and even then I wore sun glasses. At least if I fell over, I wouldn't get hurt.

I live in Iowa. Oh, yeah, I know how to dress for my favorite season, winter! No puffy coats. If they work on you, great. I always figure I don't need the extra "weight."

Past weekend while out an about lake placid, Seemed like every coat puffer or quilted variety. Noticed each coat closely, Style of each one lovely not overwhelming. Design has everything to do any garment. Example spoke yesterday on this subject sharing about, Dennis Basso Puffer coat. How much I love this style. Apparently! I'm not the only one-5Stars reviews. GF loves mine went to order her one sigh! Sold out. Thought about it after posted in the other thread, DB coat isn't what I would consider puffer. Imo style is sleek not puffy. Own slate gray down puffer more what I call poofy. Vender on Qvc selling puffer coat with the back being exstremely longer than front! Would never in my life wear something like that, Qvc sold several. Point is! Each to their own. There's something for everyone. Love winter! Let it snow.❄

There seems to be a number of puffer coat threads. Having read most of them, I don't get why some think you need a puffer coat to keep warm. There are lots of very warm jackets and coats that aren't the puffer style. You can be warm and not look like a blowfish.

Size Large.. No I wouldn't look good in a puffy coat. My coats aren't puffy. Mean like the over sized puffer types. Yikes! No way!! 🙆

Puffer coats are unflattering. There's no getting around that fact. However, those of us who live in the north, as I do in upstate NY, have at least one big puffy down filled coat. When it's below zero, we don't care what we look like. We just don't want to freeze to death.
