QVC, AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS THIS IS CRAZY?

With ALL the merchandise you have I do not understand why you continue day after day to show the same items over and over. I am not talking about your TSV.. Its a repeat on your dyson, the x-mas sleighs, the humidifer, the magnifying mirror, etc.etc..over and over again. We need some VARIETY ---PLEASE!!!

They really are doing themselves a disservice. It gives the appearance that they have a "gazillion" of a few items that they need to push to reduce their inventory.

Keep in mind hat not everyone watches QVC as often as you may or on your schedule.

QVC programs to reah 100 million homes across multiple time zones. People are constantly tuning in at arious times throughout the day. Because of this,, QVC tends to air products which has the highest profit margins as QVC is a business (and does not exist to entertain us or alleviate our boredom).

While QVC has thousands of items which never air, many of the do not offer high profit margins. In fact, many are aailable elsewhere for less, so it would not be in QVC's best interest as people would wath the demo on air and then shop online for something cheaper (just as some people go to brick nd mortar stores with questions about products and then opt to purchase online). We see this happen all the time, for instance, with cookbooks on QVC.

In the beginning it seemed QVC was targeting housewives and stay-at-home moms by giving them background noise or a "friend" to share company. They still have that "friend" approach at times, but it seems they're scheduling more for the channel surfers rather than those who might watch for extended periods of time.

@KYToby I disagree somewhat. If everything were fine, and they had a huge variety of products to show on TV, their sales would not be plummeting, nor would they have had to lay off people; some with 25+ years with the company.

I'm sure TPTB could give you a good reason for the repetition, perhaps contractual agreements, but it certainly is disagreeable for the viewers. The other channels don't seem to do it.

And, I thought I was the only one who thought this. And what is up with every host having a "holiday" show. How much decorating can one household do? You have to watch each show host and their holiday show. Then, you have to keep all the item numbers of the products you like and I guess decorate after you have seen what they all have to offer, order and wait for the delivery of stuff. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have not decorated for the holidays in years, so do not need to see these shows ad nauseum. I guess I am a product of "the good old days" when we decorated AFTER Thanksgiving and there was no mention of the holidays by retailers before Halloween. Nope, I am not an aetheist, I just don't DO the holidays now that my children are grown and not around for them. Most of my family is gone now and while I do love the holiday season for the religious part, I'm not "down" with all the hype and hullabaloo associated with it now.

I sure miss the new and different items that QVC sold years ago. Q had products that you could not find elsewhere. Now you can buy most of what QVC sells at local stores or Amazon, etc.

Last week Kerstin had a "gift show" and when I came on here to see the items recently on air, I noticed that she had a set of those scrub pads by Campanella. I would be shocked if this was an actual item she would gift.

Its just sales tactics. I don't really care what the hosts would give as gifts. I know I'm not buying 20 flashlights and giving them as gifts! Lol

Agreed, and i think the reasoning might have something to do (at least partly) with the fact that hosts have time invested in learning the products, the sets are set up for them and they need to make that time and space count, so they air the products over and over in sometimes the same day or in the same week/month, while it is all still fresh in the hosts minds, and sets/displays and vendors are there.

I think they buy certain things in huge quantities to get a low price, then have to do what it takes to move that merchandise. Their warehouses are full of sometimes hundreds of thousands of the same thing, and I agree, that they may have contractual obligations to present a certain item or brand so often to get the pricing or exclusive colors etc.

I think they not only know that they have to repeat items for a wider range of customers to see them, but that many customers will not take the plunge and buy a product until they see it presented several times. It takes time to convince many customers how they can't live without something.

No OP, you are SO not the only one. Many have been posting on these boards for some time about the dire lack of variety. It's so bad it's induced some of us to stop watching and move on and really, that would seem like a less than wise business practice. Maybe that explains why their sales have been down lately. You'd think they'd realize customers reach a saturation point and that the same items shown back to back would hasten that happening.

It's also not in QVC's best interest to stupefy customers to the point of turning off, moving on and shopping elsewhere...
