QVC AND ME...

Got email from the Q today. Said they missed me..I thought really? Wow after the thousands I spent last xmas I thought great maybe they are sending me a coupon or something? Nope...Look, I believe anyone that spends alot at the Q should be rewarded in some small way? The Q misses me because I got over my addiction with them..Realized I could buy alot of products eleswhere much cheaper,,, I am free now. No more 800.00 a month easy pays!!!!! I way over did it..Its easy to get sucked in with the easy pay offers...NO MORE..I am in the clear..I'm a free bird flying high and never again to be weighed down by the sale pitches.. WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE END UP IN ALOT OF FINANICAL PROBLEMS DUE TO THE WEAKNESS WE CAN HAVE WATCHING THE Q..?

IF I DO PURCHASE FROM THE Q IT WILL ONLY BE ONE EASY PAY A MONTH FROM NOW ON..

FOOD ADDICTIONS, DRUGS, BOOZE AND THAN THERES THE Q...

A client of mine, mom passed away a few years ago from cancer.. She was in her 70's .

When they went to clean out her home to sell she said there was tons of packages from QVC unopened!

clearly they want to suck you in with easy pay or flex pays in the case of HSN. That is all you hear during the presentations. THey almost never speak the price, just the easy pay amount. I never do easy pay. My philosophy is only buy if can afford it now. Otherwise save for it. Good for you getting out from under the spell. It is an evil spell.

@lyn61 - to me it sounds like you should just go cold turkey - it's too easy to get sucked back in - shop your local stores - you'll save a ton of money. As my parents used to say, if you can't pay cash (pay in full), you don't need it.

I think that some people are addicted to shopping, it fills a void in their life. Of course it isn't QVC' or any other reailler's fault. However home shopping makes it very easy to buy, so if you have that particular weakness, maybe you should watch something else.

The rant reminds me of Lady Macbeth - I didn't much sympathize with her either.

When it's your own fault, it's your own fault. Seems as if we're living in a world where the players have pretty much forgotten the lessons they should have learned in kindergarten!

Shopping can become an addiction for several reasons. Just like anything else. It's like a temporary feel good thing. My sister-in-law was like one poster said when they went into the house and found unopened boxes. She was in her 80's and ordered all the time just to make herself feel good. When my niece went into her home it was awful. Boxes and boxes from not one shopping channel, but all of them.

I can't imagine having $800+ of "easy pay" payments. It's a good thing you got a handle on it and saw the light finally.

Good for you! It feels great to be debt free. I have a close friend 70 years old, short on money..looks around her house and said, "why did I buy all this stuff!" No more easy pay for me either. Stay strong!

Lyn61 ,I can totally understand you, things can get a little out of control,without even knowing . It can happen to the best of us! I have fallen into the easy pay trap a couple of times. You deserve kudos for hauling your self out and realizing your actions.It is not easy.

I agree with numberonequeen. We've all been there, in fact, there was a thread last week on this very same issue. This woman had a bundle on easypay as well, into October I believe she said. She paid it off & no more for her.

As I told her, pat yourself on the back for paying it off and sit back with a cold one to celebrate.

If we've all learned one lesson, it's put that card away. Try putting things in your wishlist and leave it a few days, then go back and rethink it. Or try considering things that have 4 stars at least. Whatever boundaries you can set for yourself.

If those things don't work, I'd stay away from the website.

It definitly an addiction for some. I never had a problem ordering anything I could pay off easlly. BUT I can tell you my sister shops day and night. She has no life, never leaves the house, and yes Q if filling a void for her. She is a widow. THen she complains she has no money. It is like don't complain to me if your that stupid!

Congratulations for "freeing and flying"....If the bills couldn't easily be paid off monthly, I just wouldn't purchase and even at that I don't need numerous closets of clothes. Releasing if I purchase something new has become a habit. Fashion is fun, but not at the expense of peace of mind.

lyn61, I can sympathize with you as far as letting your EZ pays get out of control - it's EZ to do! Good for you for getting a handle on it - I'm also doing the same. You can enjoy getting a package in the mail every day - it's fun! But it also doesn't make sense for it to become an obsession, which it has ... for me. Sure, the Q is just missing your money, so stay strong and don't buckle!

Good grief, I don't see the OP blaming anyone else for her problem. I see a woman who saw she had a problem, admitted it, and did something about it. She is doing just fine! Congrats @lyn61.
