Increase in the Clearance Price

I was about to post a review on a pair of Vionic shoes I just purchased on clearance, and I noticed the clearance price is now higher. A237935. I paid 39.98. They are now 43.98. Wonder why the increase since most of the selections are now on waitlist? Maybe I don't understand what a clearance is.

By chance are you talking about the Laura? The slipper that was on Shoe Shopping last week? If so, the $39.98 price was the One Time Only Price. I ordered a pair of them last week and received them today (actually my 2nd pair of this style because I love them). I paid $39.98 as the One Time Only price and they are up to $43.98 now. There is a difference in a One Time Only Price and a Clearance Price.

I noticed a few items in my wish list have gone up a bit in price...one item just $1.00 and other things several dollars.

I've had that happen recently. One top I was thinking of buying went up - only by about $2.00 but I wasn't going to pay more for it!

The other item, some QF Dream Jeannes went up by $10! I had bought a pair and kept checking back to see if another color I wanted popped back into inventory. Well, it did but for $10.00 more (this was less than a month later). I called CS and explained that I'd like to order another pair, but not at the higher price.

The lady just said no, they couldn't adjust the price, so I said that, in that case, I couldn't buy them!

Those kinds of pricing changes never make sense to me. If they are trying to clearance out an item, you would think the goal is to get rid of the existing inventory. Isn't it???

I think it's more likely THEY don't know what clearance is.

@hfpintAbsolutely makes sense to me. I did watch that Vionics show since Vionics is for right now the only QVC shoe I buy. That OTO was a great deal.

And, yes, other companies do raise prices after a sale! Ever try to buy a sale item at 2:15 when the sale ended at 2 o'clock or stand in a massive line when just before the sale was coming to an end and the shoppers knew the price would be high if they stopped to buy a Coke? Been there, but just once and now I toss their circulars for that kind of gimmick. Just not for me.

I think that most of QVC's clearance prices are too high. You want to get rid of them, then lower the price more, like they do in retail.

I noticed this too before with an item, a pair of Clarks leather/suede ankle boots that have been presented recently at the clearance price of $69. Now they are back to the regular QVC price of $95.

I've seen this happen, too. It always makes me wonder, if they have some stock of an item that they "clear" out, then get a new delivery at the original price? Confusing! Especially when they say "This is on clearance and won't be reordered...."

And some times I wonder if it's just a "glitch" in the system!

It could be that they were OTO, but I thought I remembered clearance. I love the shoes, by the way. A company that plays with pricing is Chicos. It's amazing what they do. I (think) understand the coupon game, but once you've seen items at one price, the game isn't much fun when you see the price raised. The coupon amounts to getting the previous sale price. Ugh.

We all know retailers have sales, where regular prices are reduced for a certain period, but I've never known another retailer who increases the price once an item has gone on clearance. The only price change I've seen with other retailers on clearance items is a further reduction.

With QVC, I've absolutely seen some items sold as "clearance" which then went back up to a higher price - often still marked as "clearance". And to me that makes absolutely no sense.
