Too Many TVs!

I just looked at the Monday Just Reduced merchandise. Oh please! TV anyone? QVC must sure be stuck with a lot of TVs, esp. curved ones (a ridiculous idea for a TV anyway). Don't bother even checking the weekly Just Reduced merchandise if you don't want a TV (an item I would never buy on QVC anyway). What a waste of time. BORING. There should be a caption over Shawn's photo on the home page touting the Monday Just Reduced merchandise saying, "don't bother to click if you don't want to buy a TV."

@PearleeIf QVC is stuck with them, so is everybody else. I get at least one email a day all about electronics from Amazon, from Costco, and from any other retailer I deal with that sells that type of merchandise.

I just believe that's where most people's money is going.TV's, phones, computers, etc. I know I'm in that category. I absolutely hold my breath every day about my old TV's - both tubes and both given to me by friends who traded them for newer and bigger. Same with my laptop and my smartphone which are just about ready to hit average longevity.

Those 3 items will be my big purchases for a very long time, not jewelry, not handbags, etc. It's not even really a money thing - it's just how I'm thinking for the last few years.

@millieshops I get that. But certainly QVC has enough other categories of merchandise to offer on clearance for those people who aren't in the market for a new TV.

@PearleeI bet they do, but those TV's take up lots of space and lots of inventory money - way more of both than little items like jewelry, clothes, little kitchen items, etc.

And given the huge numbers of electronics they sell even when the forums protest? I think they have a way better idea of what sells than we do.

As an aside - I've seen any number of other retailers in the financial news as companies investors are avoiding right now. I don't see QVC's parent company in those stories and I use the sales numbers and those stories as part of my thinking.

I don't even look at anyone's sale deals unless I'm looking for something specific - and that's a toytally different way of shopping than I once employed when I was shopping way more than I do now.

I just can't imaging buying a TV from a shopping channel. I have several local stores with very competitive pricing where I can see scores of them already set up, pick the one I want, and have it delivered to my home at a time when I will be there waiting for it. They will set it up and make sure it works, and take the box and packing materials with them if I want them to. If I no longer want the old TV, they will take that too.

Agree. And most importantly, if it's defective, you don't have to ship it back somewhere1

That would be my choice too... Of course, it's pointless attempting a dialog with the mind-set that seems to accept that if QVC is doing it then it must be the right thing to do... I'd add that my perspective is that of a customer and so my concern is with my shopping experience, not with QVC's bottom line...

Over the years, I bought two tv's from the q. Pricing was competitive. No issues.

My guess is they are promoting tv's because of the profit margin. EZ pay likely helps move them.

While I doubt I would ever buy a TV from QVC or any other shopping channel as I would prefer a local retailer in case of issues, I thik QVC is doing what is right for QVC.

So many people here like to second-guess what QVC is doing, but the criticisms are based upon personal perspective and preference rather than any sort of in-depth knowledge of this industry or business.

Quite frankly, much of the criticism comes down to people who are "bored" or "tired" of QVC's offerings. Guess what -- QVC is not here to entertain us. The world does not revolve around your wants and desires. QVC is indeed a business, and it does what it determines is in the best interest of its business.

And while some may think I am a QVC cheerleader, nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, I have a number of issues with QVC, but those issues have nothing to do with thinking that QVC should be anything more than what it actually is -- a retailer.

I've read many of your posts, and the ones I've read have all been similar to this one, cheerleading for the Q, and scolding fellow posters. If you actually had issues, I think I would have seen them at the Suggestion Box.

I've read many of your posts, and the ones I've read have all been similar to this one, cheerleading for the Q, and scolding fellow posters. If you actually had issues, I think I would have seen them at the Suggestion Box.

I absolutely believe he has issues.

Be all that as it may KYT, what you seem to fail to grasp is that we are viewers and customers. We don't work for QVC, we don't own stock in QVC, we are not part of QVC's management team and as such our concern is not with QVC's bottom line. We also are not viewing QVC as a primary source of entertainment. How could we be, but neither does it need to be as dull as dishwater. Rather, our interest in QVC is a pleasant shopping venue, as it once was and as we'd like to hope it can be again.

No matter how many times you preach to us the error of our ways, it isn't going to stick because, quite simply, again, our concern is with our shopping experience and not with what might be working for QVC.

To that, I'd add that there is more than one formula for success and some of us simply feel it's well past time for QVC to generate a new game plan. They can stick with what they're doing and they might do just fine, but at the same time they're losing long-term customers because of their failure to mix it up and to keep evolving. Simply put, from the point of view of some customers, their formula is just plain stale.

I am somewhat baffled by posters who somehow seem personally offended because QVC X isn't selling what they want to buy or are interested in. QVC sells what people want. If they didn't they would not survive. I have been a QVC customer for over 25 years and I buy very very few items anymore. wHy? Because I am not interested in what they are selling now. I am not offended by this I have plenty of other outlets to,spend my money with.

@KathyPet If any of your post is describing my first thread-starting post, you are sorely mistaken. I check Just Reduced Clearance every Monday and there is almost always a wide variety of items offered. There are almost always TVs offered, esp. those curved screen ones they can't seem to get rid of. What prompted this thread on this particular Monday morning after I viewed the newly reduced items was it's almost all just TV sets. There is very little variety. For those who want to buy a tV set from QVC, more power to them and more power to QVC if it can make money selling them. I'm not happy, though, that the Just Reduced Clearance today is almost all TV sets with little to interest those of us who do not want to buy a TV set from QVC.

If that makes me a "poster who somehow seems personally offended" by the lack of variety of clearance items, then I am baffled how you came to that conclusion. I think your post is way overreacting to my point on this thread.

Certainly, some people are buying what QVC is selling, I'm not sure that necessarily means the same thing as them selling what people want.

"Just Reduced" clearance has become a misnomer. The name would imply that these items have just been marked down to clearance status. However, if one checks the page every week, one sees very few NEW items. Things on this page tend to linger forever. So now it is TV's that have taken up residence on this page. I remember a while back the page was dominated by Royal Palace rugs.

Very true. I've often seen the same things in this category for weeks after they actully were 'just' reduced.
