Another "returns" post

I realize these posts have been done to death but I recently had an experience that was unusual to me.

I returned the TSV Revitalign sneakers A729200 since they didn't fit properly.

QVC charged me over $12.00 for the return. I called CS and learned that I was charged $5.50 shipping PLUS the $6.95 for the mailing label. I cannot recall ever being charged for both before. I only recall the $6.95 for the label.

Customer service agent said that's how they do it. I complained (gently) and she refunded the $5.50

My question: have they always done it this way, that is charging both shipping and label?

yes you pay for shipping both ways

The $6.95 is the return fee for as many items you have to send back up to 5 lbs.

Then it goes to $8.95 for 5 lbs - 10 lbs ( i think)

My latest shipping complaint, ironically also on a Revitalign item, the Yumi sandal...was a go-to favorite for me when they were Spenco...have had 5 other pairs I loved...but I think, sadly, Revitalign is not as good anymore.

Anyway...on this return of these Yumis...first off, as many also complained about in the reviews...QVC, while charging $5.50 to ship, shipped them in their original shoebox only! Some say their boxes were crushed, mine was ok. Anyway, fit was terrible, nothing like the former Spenco Yumis I own.

So back they were going.

Unlike some other QVC returns, for whatever reason no QR code was sent, only "printable" label. I don't own a printer anymore, never hardly ever need one, when I do bf prints it on his. He couldn't get this label to print well. UPS will print it for $5, plus QVC's 6.95 to return...$12 return?! Luckily, since my UPS had a little trouble printing at first, and they were very busy, the rep helping me said, don't worry about the 5 dollars.

As for return ship costs, I complained when calling them to ask couldn't they send a QR code like they had with other things?...they apologized, and said they couldn't do that at their end now that the return had been processed by me. I couldn't do it because this time they didn't give that as a choice. I said...I'm marking these as "defective" because sizing is THAT poor, plus one sandal was way wider than the other. So I wasn't charged return shipping.

QVC...it should not be this costly, or difficult, in this day and age, for returns. I won't ever try shoes agan on Q...too costly for an item that's tough to "fit" correctly without trying on first.

QVC...QR codes are our friend. I should not have to pay for them to print my label. I get it...some have at home printers, but not everyone.

$5.50 was the shipping fee to you.

$6.95 was the return shipping fee from you.

And yes, this is how it's been. Which is another reason many wait for free shipping days so if you need to return at least you're only paying for the return fee.

However, if the return is because of QVC error of product defect, you don't pay any shipping either way. You should get a full refund for all monies paid from you to QVC. If you don't, call customer service.

Customers pay shipping both ways except for an exchange or returned as defective. The refund you received from the CS agent was very kind.

@amyb I had a similar experience. Because Revitalign ships their shoes simply in the original shoe box, I received a box partly torn open with one shoe inside.

I was asked to return the one shoe - why, I have no idea - and because it was being returned to Texas and not one of the QVC warehouses, I also had to deal with the printable label. For me this meant going out and paying for a copy store to do this for me. I assume the QR codes only work for warehouse returns, not drop shipped items.

So Revitalign got their one shoe back, and I hope they are happy with. I did indeed receive a replacement pair.

But Revitalign should improve their shipping protocols and QVC should be able to provide QR codes for wherever we are asked to return items.

@amyb UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I EVER buy anything from QVC that has even the most REMOTE chance of being returned. I'm done playing the "little games" I'm reading about here to perform what should be a very simple process.

Yes, I understand I pay $139.99 for Amazon Prime, but with amount of business I give them and the streamlined and efficient pay processes and return processes in place, it's worth it because my time is worth money.

Yes, I have always paid the $6.95 return shipping charge. In this case they charged me not only the $6.95 but also $5.50

Again, I paid the $6.95 return. And was also charged $5.50 for a total of $14.45. I don't recall ever paying an additional charge ON TOP of the $6.95.

I paid the $5.50 TWICE. Once when I purchased the shoes and AGAIN when I returned the shoes.

My total fee for returning the shoes was $12.45 in addition to the $5.50 I paid in the first place to have them shipped to me. So total shipping to me and back to QVC amounted to $17.95!

@Beammeupscotty - If what you've posted above is correct, definitely contact CS and get a refund of at least the duplicate $5.50.

QVC doesn't refund the original shipping and they do charge a return label fee, but you shouldn't be docked twice for the original shipping.

However, those who say it's always been this way are wrong.

It has been QVC's policy now for many years, that they don't refund original shipping. Way back though they did. You only paid return shipping, but got a full refund otherwise.

As I said, it's been years now since that policy changed and it was well announced, when it was instituted.

If an item is defective, damaged or you were sent the wrong item (QVC error), you are not charged return shipping and you are refunded your purchase price, including the original shipping.

I'm confused though - in your OP you say you were charged $6.95 plus $5.50. So where does the additional $5.50 come into it?

You were lucky that the CS rep, as a courtesy, refunded you the original shipping charge.

@Venezia is correct.

If the original shipping fee was $5.50 and the return shipping fee was $6.95, you should only have been docked $12.45. If you were charged more than that, it was an error and you were right to get a refund on the difference.

@Beammeupscotty The $6.95 is the return shipping, and the $5.50 is your original shipping. They don't refund shipping charges.

So they only refunded me $57.61. 70.06 minus $6.95 would have been $63.11

They deducted your return correctly according to this example. The original $5.50 was deducted and also the return shipping of $6.95 for a total of $12.45 from your order total of $70.06, which is $57.61.

@6.95 plus 5.50 is 12.45.

The 5.50 is for the cost of getting the item TO you the $6.95 is the cost of getting the item back to QVC.
