GLAMorial Day????? How offensive!

I do realize that Memorial. Day weekend always has sales going on. But, to change the name of an important holiday to make it cutesy is very disrespectful, in my opinion. If they wanted to have a Memorial Day/weekend sale, fine, but don't mock the name of the holiday we are supposed to be giving thanks for the brave men and women who lost their lives fighting for our freedoms. I am not sure whose brilliant idea it was, but I think it was an epic failure. Between Kim Gravel, LUG Life and QVC, I would have hoped that someone would have expressed their distaste for this campaign.

I agree GLAMorial Day is completely disrespectful. I have many stronger words as well but will refrain. Where do you see this? I did not see it on the main page or in the Program Guide for Memorial Day on the main channel.

This is disrespect and beyond. My thoughts go to those who lost loved ones who fought for their country, only to have to bear witness now to commercialization of their pain. QVC needs to apologize for this thoughtless, cringy moniker.

It is tacky, but suckers and losers and snorkeling for pleasure in a navy graveyard is worse.

After that, I suppose anything revered is fair game to be bastardized these days.

@Sakuya I agree and am planning to complain to corporate, but I also have not seen it posted anywhere on the website. I don't want to complain unless I've got proof.

I really wish QVC would rethink this. This is a day for those that DIED serving our country. A glamour day really trivializes this day. I don't think the intention was to do that however some time a marketing strategy just doesn't land. This is one of those times.

It's a LUG live stream. Complain to LUG. Pretty sure LUG isn't concerned with our demographic and appeal to the younger folks who aren't offended by Glamorial.

I wouldn't discount the younger people being offended by it. After all the average age of our military is 20. They are very savy. They have family members who have died in service. The world is online now and the younger people are very intuned to social issues.

1% of our population serves. The majority are men.

LUG isn't appealing to that demographic. That's why it's not a big deal to them. I think it's tone deaf, especially when we are at war, but Memorial Day is a cook out and day off and the start of the summer season for many adults and young people.

QVC is stuck in a marketing bubble. In a meeting, “Glamorial Day” probably sounded cute and on brand, but they didn’t include veterans or military families who understand the weight of Memorial Day. So, the team thinks it’s a fun pun, and the audience sees disrespect.

A better way to merge marketing with respect would have been something like: We are grateful to the men and women who have served our country. Because of them, we’re able to enjoy this holiday weekend together — and share meaningful savings with you.
