Text Testimonials

I may be late to this, but I see today in Gourmet Holiday that QVC is now incorporating and asking for "text" testimonials in their shows.

So not just phone calls into the shows anymore. Hosts are now reading text messages as the they come in (cherry picking them of course) live on air during the show. I'll take their word for them being real customer text messages

If they have to do testimonials during the show, I'm all for this. So much better than the cringe (my opinion) telephone calls that go into deaths, illnesses, and awkward love-fests that have nothing to do with the items sold, etc.

I agree that they couldn't possibly be any worse than those awful phone calls.

I would not text in a testimonial. An alternative is they can read reviews on air.

that sounds like a great idea. Not only reduces need for extra phone line or operator....but omg, so much easier on the ears. Most of the calls were awful. Embarrassing , and orobably a nightmare for hosts at times. One time a lady kept Kathy on air over 20 mins, no one rescued her!!!

I really wish they would stop wasting time with the testimonial nonsense in all forms. They already spend way too long on irrelevant information such as where you can wear a dress, what to use a serrated knife to cut, and how much their kids love every gadget or decor item (that they likely got from the host at no charge and thus have no use value investment), and some random comment from some random customer shared on air seems unlikely to influence the purchase of anyone watching the show.

I mean, I know reading is hard, and the reviews posted on the product pages are far from perfect—but is there some data QVC has gathered about people preferring to obtain product input from a caller chatting or a host reading to them? Weird.

Anyway, that's enough venting from me for now.

Some of those phone calls that are in the Kim Gravel shows...wow. Kim is very kind and nice to the callers.

At least text reviews should eliminate tales of widowhood and surgical details and horrors. They will give us the option of ignoring them.

Been seeing it here and there for a while on their live channel or youtube channel. Good if it attracts customers.

I don't watch those 2 hosts --they drive me nuts but have to say--text-tomonials are hundreds times better than the call ins!!! I hate those!!! And yes--am surprised that didn't happen way before now.

I don’t care for the calls but maybe some of these people are lonely & if it gives them some happiness, I tolerate them. Many watch a lot of QVC & probably feel connected to the hosts.

I've heard them mention text testimonials a couple of times but not once did I hear them say they would "replace" the phone calls. Did you actually hear them say they were a replacement @Caaareful Shopper ?

In fact, as I am reading this forum and watching the Q, there is a phone in testimonial right now.

At this point I don't see it as a replacement but an "addition" to the phone calls. They also read some reviews from online. Just another selling technique from what I am hearing.

I mentioned not just phone calls, as in it's an added feature, not a replacement. They'll be something I won't mind at all, as compared to the phone calls.

I'm in the minority. I don't mind the phone calls at all. Even the ones most regard as "cringeworthy". Although I do sometimes feel for the hosts on a time limit if they get a caller that won't stop talking.

I don't mind them reading the texts or reviews either.

But just like the chit chat between hosts and/or vendors, I expect a full description of the product along with all that.

I believe the reason is just what @Estellee posted.

It seems like people prefer texting rather than talking on the phone.

The Q was smart to add in this communication option.

And I really don’t mind the callers, no matter what they want to talk about.

I could not believe one of Kim's last callers. She must have gone thru five or six recent and close deaths.

Strangely when people grieve, they turn to shopping.
