QVC/HSN MAYBE FILING FOR CHAPTER11

i've seen a few articles pop up about this.

"QVC Group is considering filing for Chapter 11 as it works with lenders to restructure $6.6 billion in outstanding debt, according to a story published Tuesday by Bloomberg.

The article, which cited unnamed sources, said that the onetime king of at-home shopping hopes to arrive at “voluntary debt restructuring agreement with its creditors that could be implemented as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.” No final decision about a filing has been made, Bloomberg said."

@SWEET Ok. Businesses file for bankruptcy every day. So what? Who really cares? There are other venues for shopping if QVC/HSN really go off the air.

@SWEET If you are interested in this kind of news stuff on QVC, I recently posted about the podcast "Are We On The Air", with Shawn Wilsey, where he gave the year end wrap up, where I first learned about their outstanding debt and other issues...was interesting. I just see now, he has a new episode from yesterday discussing the possible bankruptcy filing, if you're intrested. I've enjoyed his podcast, which has lots of bts inner workings stories about home shopping, in general, and lots about QVC. He often has on the son of the Q founder, who's always interesting.

@SWEET If they can't pull themselves together and pay off debt, etc., I won't miss the channels. Shopping channels, restaurants, malls and stores are sadly closing everywhere. I will, however, miss these forums and connecting with all of you.

I saw that yesterday on Google News. They're blaming lack of viewers now that streaming is the norm and not cable TV. Not sure that's the problem I would put as #1 for them. I do buy clothing from QVC and especially like that they give the actual measurements, something the rest of online retail do not. I'll have to find my correct size through trial and error. I miss mostly the QVC I used to watch where a large variety of items was available. And, of course, as someone mentioned, the Forums will be missed!

I know I will miss the shopping channels. I am a visual person and like seeing it modeled whether it's clothing or home decorating. Just seeing it on a website just isn't the same.

I think cable was the problem too. They're all trashing Kim whose on) other threads too. She's tthe one giving the sales QVC needs so much on cloathing. A major sale for QVC. If they tank, I'd miss the jewelry for sure. I still buy clothes in the mall.

I can't say this is a surprise. QVC got away from their core business quite some time ago.

Many people have been sharing their thoughts on this board, and no one is listening. Why would you need 5 channels, three which show nothing but reruns (this includes HSN). I changed the channel some time ago...the Quality, Value and Convenience left the building a long time ago.Good luck, you have the market on shopping networks.Hire some talented people who know how to maket your brand.

I don't disagree with you. For years people on this board have been saying the same things over and over and nobody listened. And for those saying they're not gonna go into bankruptcy, the writing is on the wall.

I like HSN, while the Q got the majority of my business. HSN got a fair share as well and they have just ruined it. I love Marla's clothing and they used to have 10 to 12 pages to look at now, The inventory is just stale. She used to have weekly shows that were must see TV for me now she's on very hit or miss.

I used to love the HSN holiday shows, and while the vast majority of my purchases were Valerie. I did purchase a good amount from their shows. Now their inventory is down to nothing. Valerie is another one, her stuff is just a rehash in different iterations. Nothing new or exciting.

one of my favorite shows was the Szish list. Every week Katrina highlighted new iand different brands that get no airtime on the Q. I bought so much stuff from her during those shows.

I believe I heard Amy Stran say she was going to Palm Springs for a Logo show. This seems pretty frivolous for a company several billion dollars in debt.

@Wj110 you could say the sane thing about them sending both John B and Mary D to ATL to kick off the grand opening on the Belle studio.

I understand that Kim G is helping to keep them a float but still seems like an unnecessary expense at this time.

The creditors will keep things in check if and when Chapter 11 is filed. The largest secured creditor is JP Morgan. Bankers will be in charge.

Add in the Unsecured Creditors Committee. In bankruptcy reorganization monthly financial statements are required. The UCC can review every $ spent.

Bankers and unhappy unpaid vendors won't put up with nonsense.
