QUESTION RE LIVE PHONE CALLS

I haven't watched QVC in years and I just happened to come upon it. When did they stop doing live phone calls? Did it take up too much time from the host/item? I loved hearing these people gush over a product or a host. I remember when Jeffrey was on there and she addressed him as so and he was like thanks for the Jeffrey. Why this sticks in my mind 30+ later is beyond me. LOL.

Mostly during Kim Gravel shows.

Sometimes calls go on and on and get way too personal.

As far as I know they still take calls? It just is not very often any more. Not too long ago there were comments on the board about the Kim Gravel gushing calls. Personally, I don't care for them, especially the depressing ones and teary carry ons. A channel changer for me.

Most of the time they don't add much to the presentation and many are just annoying.

My vote is to please stop taking calls. They never add anything to the presentation of the item, and I have not once heard helpful information from those calls.

Callers can get extremely specific and act like they're on a one-on-one telephone conversation. Then there are the ones that get maudlin or talk about their very personal situation. They can be quite sad.

Mostly, I find them cringeworthy.

I'm glad the live calls ended. They were cringey at best.

My guess is they stopped taking them because they interfered with hosts acting like children, antics, personal stories, private chit chat with guests, crude talk, and lack of professionalism..

I have heard a few still recently but nearly as much --always hated those dumbs things---not interested in what anyone has to say about whatever is being sold--never made me want to buy at all.

@Caaareful Shopper Count me in. I cringe when I hear some of the people they let speak on the air. You are spot on and some don't want to stop talking. I say. No more taking calls from cudtomers.

I remember one caller telling Rick to hurry up because she didn't have much time (Q bird game) and another telling Bob when mentioning the price never talking about S&H.

Whats my point? Get rid of the calls.

I agree that they mostly are awkward, if not downright cringe worthy. While they are few & far between these days, besides with the Kim Gravel shows, I heard a caller on the Skechers presentation like 2 nights ago. She was praising the shoe because it had enough room in the toebox area & her arch support, etc, etc. TMI LOL

I really don't get the adversity to these calls. It doesn't bother me a bit. Usually it is entertaining and a nice change from listening to the hosts speaking over their guests or giving their own personal stories.

Yes, some may be cringe worthy but that's on the caller themselves. I really never gave it a second thought.

And there's the difference between how people perceive things.

I would think that information could be helpful to other potential buyers who might have those same issues and be wondering about how that particular shoe might fit them.

Different strokes for different folks. 🤷‍♀️🙂

They literally had live calls for the Skechers TSV this weekend and for IHKWIP Monday. They have them occasionally during D&C as well. But KG's are the truly the saddest of the sad, and the lonely.

Personal lives should be kept personal, it does not help to sell a product. This goes for the hosts who talk about themselves all the time too.

They are still prevalent, most on Kim's shows as others have noted. There were a lot on a recent Susan Graver show. Every caller changed out her wardrobe to just Graver.

I always mute or quickly change channel when a call comes in on a Kim show. They are inevitably sad and depressing personal stories and I just don't need it right now.

Heard one with Kim, and the caller's husband had just died a few days before the call. That was in the first two minutes of the call.

I never can understand why callers want to talk about their surgeries, illnesses and deaths.

Kim's callers always talk about how much they love her and Kim how much she loves them. huh? And Kim always is channeling them and commiserates with everything.
