Kerstin Lindquist getting Fasting Coach certification?

Happy Friday Qtalk Forum,

I was just catching up to Kerstin's social media posts/podcast where she mentions that she is currently involved in classes to become a "certified fasting coach" I have never heard of such before, but is this becoming a trend? I think most of us fast when we aren't feeling well and its pretty much instincts, but maybe this is something new that is trending?

I can see paying for classes to be certified in many diff professions, but this one took me by surprise. I must be in a cave lately, as I've never heard of such type coaching. I would of thought fasting was pretty obvious on the Do's and Dont's, but apparently this is new and so I guess in the future people will be paying for this advice.

Lol well @QVCTVSpree You and I must be in that same cave. First I'm hearing of this also. If it works for her & others great. Many people like the overnight fasting lifestyle.

I'm with you...If I decide to fast, which I really haven't done much, or felt the need to (other than during Lent type fasting, but not the fast overnight, don't eat for 12 hrs thing), I don't feel the need for a coach. I've seen a nutritiionist once & a diet coach, at times when I've had some unwanted pounds that seemed "stuck"...and neither was against fasting but didn't find it necessary, or for everyone.

Both of their approaches, (and if you Google, there's both recommendations out there), were to eat within an hour after getting up, IF you are hungry, which I normally, naturally am. It gets your metabolism going, blood sugar balanced and sets you off for the day. I find, having tried both ways...the eat in an hour, hour 1/2 after rising is best for me. Even if it's light, then I work out an hour later, then have a late morning snack (or the rest of breakfast) that's what works for me, and I've lost weight that way too.

There really are too many "certifications" lately, (to each their own...though, just money making trends, imo), this seems a stretch to me, though I know nothing about it.

I didn't know it required coaching, but intermittant fasting is very popular.

@amyb Perfectly said and I am right there with you during Lent, as I am a Roman Catholic. I give up sweets and pizza during that time and its painful, LOL. Yeah, good for them if they get paid for this type of work. I was in shock when I heard her say it and I was just bewildered to such a coaching certification in existence.

I hope Kerstin mainly just advises the fasting to others and doesn't do so for herself. She is fine the way her body is now and I don't think she needs to lose 1 centimeter of muscle/fat off her own body frame as it is rt now.

This woman latches on to every fad in the fitness industry. I guess she missed the expose' in The New York Times that intermittent fasting doesn't work any better than a calorically restricted diet. The other day she was pushing red light therapy not wearing goggles to protect her eyes.🙄

I wouldn't waste a minute of my time looking at her social media accounts. Nothing she could say interests me. I came to this thread to read because like many of you I have never heard of a fasting coach.

I say whatever works for you. I don't think you need a Coach to fast intermittently....you just do it.

All these fad coaches are a joke to me. My neighbor is a Life Coach. She specializes in coaching young women who are preparing to be married.

This woman has had a drug and alcohol problem, been divorced, and cheated on her 2nd husband.

Not a person who I would take advice from.

I think Kerstin has been all over the place since leaving the Q, I recently saw her in a TV commercial promoting a bathroom renovation, I can't remember which company.

In case anyone had any questions about the population's decreasing level of intelligence, I'd say the existence of a fasting coach should remove all doubts.

People can get certificates for various things these days and use those credentials to promote their "expertise" and sell themselves. As far as health coaches, I would not trust their advice as much as I would trust a "real medical professional". I'm more comfortable working with my doctors because their profession is regulated. I'm not sure about regulations in these health related certificate courses.

Someone reposted K's photos of herself on another forum. When I saw her photos I was a bit shocked. K's nearly naked photos of herself would not encourage me to follow any of her health advice. She does not look healthy IMO.

I already have an interesting eating schedule due to chronic digestive issues. Some would call what I do intermittent fasting, but it's a been part of my life long before fasting became popular as a lifestyle. I've never heard of a fasting coach.

I've heard of Life Coaches, but coaching young women preparing to marry? Is that the same as hiring an assistant to help the bride plan everything?

I guess some people aren't confident in their own decision making so they need a coach for certain things. I always used family and friends as sounding boards if I wanted advice, but maybe they don't have those people.

My mind immediately went to a comedy skit. Someone is wearing a camera around her neck and "the coach" is watching her every move. When the client tries to open her mouth for a bite, the Coach yells "PUT THAT DOWN. NOWWWWWWW!"

I fast for the last 3 years for 17 hours daily, and I do just fine without any coaching, I am my own coach !!!

Whatever floats her boat I guess. While fasting may be trendy right now, not everyone should do it, nor should this person be encouraging people to do so with her so-called certificate, imo. However, people are responsible for their own decisions and if they decide to follow her advice on anything, that is on that person unfortunately.

This coaching certificate reminds me of a certain former RHOBH who was an "accountability coach". She basically encouraged people to eat far less than 2000 calories a day, skip meals, but workout like crazy (all allegedly).
