I did intermittent fasting for about 2 years. I didn't see much weight loss but I felt pretty good while doing it. I found 11:00 to 7:00 worked best for me. I don't do it now and I am not sure why. The only problem I had was when we traveled. It was hard to keep a schedule when traveling.

I have been doing it for the last 3 years, I love it, keeps me on track with my eating habits. I finish dinner at approx 8 PM and dont eat until the next day at 1 PM. No snacks , nothing. I have no trouble sticking to it, Try to eat as healthy meals as I can. This is considered a 17 hour fast which is about the max, you can do it for less time.

As a pre-diabetic and in a program to halt any progression, this is the worst thing anyone can do, pre-diabetic or not. It starves the body of needed nutrients, and can make some overeat due to food cravings, not to mention feeling listless and faint.

A big no in my book.

I rarely eat a full meal...it's just too much for me as I have gotten older....but like to eat something every few hours even if it is a piece of fruit or a cheese stick. (Ok...a cookie is an option sometimes). 😊

I like small portions of most foods. Half a sandwich...half of a meal and save the leftover for later. Guess fasting is not for me unless it is required for a medical procedure.

Both my husband and I eat dinner around 5:00 PM and then we do not eat anything else after 6:00 PM.

We started intermittent fasting 5 years ago and we are very strict with the regime. It was only once in the 5 years that we had dinner at 7:00 PM due to having a later appointment that ran our mealtime past 5:00 PM.

Since we're both retired we usually get up around 8:00 AM and have breakfast shortly after getting up.

We weren't looking to lose weight, we just wanted to maintain our weight.

We both feel that intermittent fasting was the best thing we ever did. After all of these years of not eating at night it just feels completely normal. Neither of us even think of food after dinner.

@12andcounting Ok, so when I was a bit younger and worked out more, I needed a boost for breakfast, but mostly just a protein shake at the gym, did mu errands and came home by 1PM famished. Sometimes that's when I had my eggs or salad with leftover grilled chicken or a small can of tuna on top.

Now, unless we're on vacation and a buffet breakfast (my favorite) is offered, I can pass with just coffee. If I go to the buffet, it's at 11 before it closes down so that I combine lunch w/ breakfast.

I don't need to lose weight, but feel better not beginning my day loaded down w/ a breakfast. I have 2 cups of coffee about 6:30 -7:30, do a long walk, do anything I need to do like food shopping, etc. and I'm good until noon.

I think the only drawback of the fasting that I've read about is that skipping food from 7-8PM the night before and going with nothing until lunch the next day can cause a person to eat more at lunch or whenever you begin that first meal of the day.

I think if you are wanting to change your way of life. It is important that you speak with a doctor. No one can answer a question about what is right for your body. It is imperative that you take your health seriously. Getting healthy is feeding your body, exercise and drinking plenty of water..

They get very little training about nutrition. Furthermore, there actually are people who can figure out what is right for an individual. Naturopaths are one option but each person can do so for themselves as well.
