Well apparenty we can't even mention Medicare on these boards now. I just noticed that at least 2 postings have been "moved" by the QVC Board Police saying that the post was political. I really don't get it... I'm surprised they've got anyone on these boards nowadays...

The posts on Medicare must have gotten political in some, like slamming Obamacare. There have been discussions about Medicare that were never removed.

@Winkk, That's what I've noticed, too. It doesn't seem to be a problem to discuss Medicare as long as the threads don't turn political or contentious. I've noticed the moderators have been open to most topics as long as the discussions are civil.

@dooBdoo, I agree. There was a lengthy post just recently that got a little heated, but the moderators left it alone. I think one or two posts may have removed but I was impressed with whoever was moderator at the time. It is all in the way a post is worded.

There are some posters who like to throw in politics, causing the threads to be removed. The same people then proceed to complain about the removal of posts. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy whether intentional (most likely) or not.

Medicare has been discussed numerous times on these boards, and there is currently one going on in the Wellness forum. It is not an issue, in and of itself, but it can lead to political discussions which are prohibited.

As we all agreed to refrain from discussing politics and follow the rules when registering for these boards, I do not understand the complaints when rules are enforced.

They make the rules. We agree to the rules. They enforce the rules. Where is the disconnect?

Medicare discussions should be about insurance, not politics. I guess they get booted if they veer toward the latter.

You suspect? You've been here long enough to know that political comments, especially those that get angry or heated, breach the Standards.

Some people just can't seem to understand the difference between an intelligent discussion and political rhetoric.

When I engage in a political discussion, I know going in that it may be deleted. And I don't whine about that afterwards.

I agree with other comments that what happens with threads or posts is an outcome of how we choose to discuss topics rather than what the topics are.

Just my observation, but I think some pretty outlandish inflammatory comments and personal insults were allowed before the launch of the new forums, and it appears that sort of comment is no longer appreciated by the moderators. I think many posters grew accustomed to violating the standards at will and don't understand now that the standards are being enforced.

It's not that difficult to post our opinions civilly and within the boundaries of published policies.

What they do here (what any manager does on a well-moderated site) is a balancing act; the moderators are people -- human -- who have to interpret the standards the best they can, individually; and there are different moderators here at different times. I don't always agree with their decisions, but we do post here under their guidelines.

I don't know precisely where or how they do work it all the time, but there are some people so consumed (usually by hatred for it) that I think they actually change "Amen" to "Amamacare" at the end of their prayers at night. lol
