How cheap will QVC go ?

With the recent news of layoffs in FL and QVC as a whole. It doesn't look good for the company. It seems not many will make the trek to PA. So will studio park just have everyone doing double duty with a skeleton crew? Will hosts be forced to be on both stations? And run back and forth between sets. Or will they go even cheaper and just have vendors be the hosts like on Q2. (I can't stand all the skype) Are models even safe? Will they be pulling double time for both channels? Or will they be let go and use stock footage and pictures? How much more can they consolidate?

Its hard to shop on Q nowadays as it is with such limited selections and brands.

Its the same guests everydays, along with house brands. And its only getting smaller.

Will they just turn into a food channel? As thats their biggest revenue. I miss old QVC where fashion was the priority and clothing was sexy and trendy. Now its all pajamas and vacuums. Is there any postitive with these changes/layoffs? Like with their big focus to switch to streaming, would that force them to go back to a younger demo? And allow new brands to come in..Surely internet would be cheaper than cable broadcast time. Maybe it would allow for startups to get their name out there.. instead of house brands and celebs..I want to see a bright side, but am not seeing it. Anyone?

Only time will tell. Personally, I don't see any shopping channel existing on air for more than another couple of years. ShopHQ was the first to go but not the last.

They are consolidating a lot.

The same 12-20 products (or variations of) are aired over and over ad nauseam.

Host behavior is often bottom of the barrell.

Q wants people to feel like family. What a farce. Big corporations will say anything to make a sale.

Age of possibilities, menopause, and such, are ridiculous marketing themes. There is absolutelyl nothing a host or corporation can tell me that would have helped me through menopause or aging.

Q needs major major major changes in product lines, host behavior, and marketing if they are going to survive given what's coming.

I highly doubt any of us here have been the CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Yet we all have opinions on what they are doing wrong.

Time will tell, look how many times Macy's and JCP have almost been gone, yet they are still here. Look how many times companies such as BBB, Forever 21, Joann's and more DID go out.

We all still have places to shop.

I have not heard of any recent layoffs at QVC. That downsizing was a while back.

And why would you care anyways when you always claim you can buy every thing better, cheaper elsewhere?

Why would I care what Richard's Sporting Goods does? I would never shop there.

Posters come here and state how awful QVC is, how they never shop here etc.

Then WHY care???

@nyc1 Never understood the necessity of Q2. In fact if HSN is also on board, do one shopping channel with all 3 combined. maybe the choices of merchandise and hosts will improve.

@RespectLife Macy's and Penney's may have survived but the stores around my area are ragged -- not stocked well and look like discount stores.

Totally agree, but point is....they did not close nation wide...and their online business is still available.

The Macy's and JCP near us is always trashed, hardly any open registers, can't find an associate to save your soul....and now poorer quality merchandise compared to years ago. Maybe I was young, but I used to think Macy's was top line!

Yet they remain, for now....LOL

Look how many years it took for Sear's to make a slow death? QVC may be going the same route, but the crystal ball isn't clear enough yet to guarantee that.

@tansy Same in our mall. There are few sales people to keep things tidy and shopping is ridiculous. There's not enough help to keep the dressing rooms clean, sizes in the right place to find what you're looking for on the racks.

It's driving people away to shop online or to spend their money elsewhere.

@RespectLife I "care" about QVC/HSN insofar as they were once a unique, enjoyable shopping experience. QVC no longer is for me. I also "cared" about Lord & Taylor, Kmart, Sears, etc. etc. Agree it takes awhile for retailers to completely disappear but unless the retailer becomes competitive it will not last long.

I think we will just have to see what happens. We have no idea what's coming down the pike. I do however agree that the two (QVC & HSN) will eventually merge as one shopping channel. It only seems to make sense. They are streamlining so of course there will be lay offs. Speaking of which I did not understand the thread about QVC laying people off in Florida?? As far as I can see the Q is a separate company unless they meant the parent company. I'm lost in that conversation.......

@harmony9 I'm waiting to see what the actual fallout is, but I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to pick up and move to a totally different area in a very different climate if they decide to find another job near HSN.

As for all the lay-offs? Could be hundreds of them are people we whom we never see do their work. The real savings for the corporation are most likely in buildings and insurances, warehouse employees, purchase agents, and on and on. Combining the various companies may be a path to survival, but times are different than when so many other companies were floundering. In spite of huge investments, we may see many more companies we like close down.

Sarah Anderson did a video on her Facebook page that QVC/HSN is looking for new hosts. Those interested should contact Sean Desimone Casting on LinkedIn to apply so I believe they will need more new hosts in West Chester, PA.

IN my opionion, QVC is selling a lot more "junk".

Tschotchkees, glop food, the same vendors over and over and over....Graver....Gravel....Denim and Co....Graver....Graver...Denim and Co....Graver....Gravel....Gravel....Graver....

And now Gravel is make up too...I guess they couldn't hold the other makeup sellers any longer...

O well. It all comes to an end sooner or later.

Who buys much less displays all that tchotchkees stuff???? And how big a second mortgage for all the batteries in that junk?

And now it's all garden stuff you can find for a 1/4 of the price in Walmart, Amazon or the dollar store. If it's name brand there are many more places to buy it...

I don't see it going on much longs ( home shopping)..

@LindaSal, the thread about the layoffs in Florida is about the news release from QVC Group, the current parent company name (formerly Qurate) which HSN is part of.

I think unfortunately QVC has become an advertiser for other retailers.

So they have turned more and more to their own higher profit house brands. I don't like, and I don't buy their house brands. That has limited my shopping choices.

I wish there was a return to when they had unique configurations of products not found elsewhere at a good price. Where something was exclusive to them for several months. Where you couldn't do a comparison to another retailer because things weren't comparable. Offering different colors of an item are, to me, not as significant as getting a better price.

I think most posters enjoy shopping here and do hope they eventually find a way to prosper.

I meant why do people who hate QVC, post negatively all the time, bash hosts, and imply it is the worse company out there....Care?

I care, but don't claim to know more about running a billion dollar business that TPTB.

And I do agree that most likely in 2026 HSN will fade away.

So it will be one big company under one roof so to speak.

I just hope it can balance back out, and we don't lose any more people or brands.

Hopefully all of HSNs brands can stay on QVC and not get lost in the shuffle.

Along with their buisness workings. HSN is way better with style and presenations.

We want more youthful clothing. Plus more live models, like petites.

QVC has gotten into the habit of using pictures and mannequins.

Lets see what happens in the fall..

There is a pattern looking at other retail shopping

Have to agree that Macy's and Penneys look sad,

esp JCP

Here in Illinois they look like vacant whole house selling

overstock.

Pretty sure Q will end up streaming only. Too costly to keep as a cable station. Cable has bit the dust if you haven't noticed...
