I really miss Viewpoints!

Although I've tried my best to use this new forum, I really miss Viewpoints and I dislike that the book section is buried in the midst of TV and movie details.

The upshot is that I do have more time to do things away from the computer.

But I still miss the contacts!

Me three. Most of us were adult enough if a topic or posters made us angry or furstrated we would just move on and cool down and get on with our own lifes. I knew I could never change anyone's mind more than mine mind could probably be changed. so I would just head off to the Kitchen/Recipe forums until life was peaceful again on the boards.

Most viewpoint threads were not harsh or destructive but enlightening and I did learn a lot.

Hi insomniac, I floated our monthly book discussion, so that it always shows at the very top of the listings in Books, TV and Movies. In that way, I never have to search for it because it's always right there.

Try it; it works really well!

I miss VewPoints too! I guess it's gone forever. It only takes a few to spoil the bunch.

I don't miss the "old" Viewpoints at all. What I do miss is not having to see it's equivalent (in Community Chat) on the front page of the forums. I wish it was hidden like it was before.

I don't miss the old Viewpoints as it formerly existed. But everyone who frequented it has figured out that Community Chat is where its reincarnated home will be. It's not going to continue as it was, and IMO that is not a bad thing. People will adapt - or not adapt. People will continue to post - or will just mourn and rail.

I don't miss the political threads. I do miss the entertainment topics about celebrities, reality stars, etc The other forum (TV) isn't that busy.

Well I consider CC the new viewpoints and I think it's what we make of it. Hopefully people will settle down and post more.

At this point it's not the board, it's the members that don't want to accept the change.

I don't miss Viewpoints because in reality we really weren't able to share our views without the constant trolls interfering on threads or moderators letting ugly threads stand and randomly poofing posts and threads that had merit. The new mods are doing a very good job and will probably remove this but I needed to say this.

Someone talked about a better place to post away from here. I checked it out and what was strange was that the admin claimed we would be free to be our own moderator but quite the contrary she was very present on the board keeping vigil over some silly karma feature which was designed for people to either like you or dislike you. So childish. Most voted to get rid of it but apparently the admin enjoyed watching who was liking or smiting who. What ruined a perfectly good board though was a nasty section where people were bashing others out of control and gossipping about QVC members. It could have been a nice place to post but for the most part it now has no credibility because of a particular "zone" which was nothing but negative and targeted specific posters here. The admin there also kept vigil over IP numbers and who was signing in and out. She also claimed proxies were permitted but she had it set up that you couldn't post with a proxy. Not for me.
