Watching D & Co. the petite length for pants shown so far is 27 to 27-1/2" long. These are too long for petite.

A673588 is being worn by Pat. She said she is 5'6-1/2" and the regular length of 30-1/2" is too long for her so she is wearing the petite length.

I don't understand how fashion has decided people suddenly grew taller or suddenly grew longer legs. I hope this is not the new trend as I need new jeans.

I agree with Biftu. But, I also think it has to do with current fashion having pants dragging the ground LOL. If you look at fashion pictures etc. the pants are always what I would consider too long. *Almost* dragging on the ground.

I hope this trend changes. I don't like my pants that long either.

I'm 5'1 and 27" is too short for me, it just looks off. For an ankle pant I need 28" at minimum and for a boot cut pant 29". I heard Courtney Kondabi the other night say she was all legs and that's me, too.

It's so rare to find pants the right length that I just plan on having them hemmed. I found an independent tailor who charges a fair price and have been going to him for many years.

I need a petite length but actual measurement depends on the cut of the leg. For me a 27' would be fine for a pant to break at the top of the foot. This also looks to be pretty straight and should be a easy one to hem.

Generally, the slimmer the pants, the shorter. The wider, the longer. Standing up, big flares and wide pants come down past the ankle, to rest on the top of the foot. Full lenth pants go just past the ankle. The more extreme wide pants drag past the heel. You walk with a cut front, so the front of the foot can go past when you walk.

I am not petite----am 5'5" and I find that some petites are a good length for me. I generally prefer 29-30" inseam. I do not like pants dragging around my ankles or ballooning over top of my shoes. I don't wear shoes that have higher heels either. Lisa Robertson was always wearing those long pants and it looked dumb!! Not a fan of the high water length either

Petite people can be 5'4" or 5'1" like me. That makes a difference. What fits one petite person in length might not land in the same spot as a shorter person. Some petite people have shorter legs than others.

I just include the cost to have my pants hemmed into the price. Petites are often too short, but regulars are usually too long. I'd rather get them too long and get them hemmed than get them too short and then they're worthless to me. I like my pants long, not dragging, but just above the ground.

I don't go in the alterations place that often, so the lady doesn't know me, but she always get's them right the first time when turning them up, so it must be the most common way people wear their pants.

There's also a difference if a pant is a trouser vs a jean. A jean rise is shorter than a trouser rise, so it fits closer to the crotch, meaning you'll need a longer inseam for a jean than you would for a trouser.

I'm 5'2" and generally get a 30" inseam if available unless I want to wear then with heels. A trouser I'll get in 28" for flats. I don't wear ankle pants or shorter at all, ever.

@Sakuya There are so many different body types. I wouldn't say 27" is too long. Perhaps for you, but not necessarily for other petite ladies.

I am 5' 2 3/4", I like to say 5'3" but shy a 1/2". A 27" inseam is just too short, regardless of the shoes I wear. I need 28" and sometimes 29". So, a 27" is too short for me but there are many other options to choose from so I never worry about it.

I am approximately 5'1" tall. I need petite straight leg or boot cut pants with an inseam of 28 or 29 inches. 27 to 27 1/2 inches would be much too short for me.
