I'm not sure what's normal for business profits but this seems like bad news. How long can they keep going down before bad things happen?

Going back as far as I can remember, their 'explanations' (aka, excuses) for quarterly woes are often downright comedic.

Clearly one of the "possibilities" of "the age" is a loss of business. But let's support it anyway so it doesn't look like a mistake?

I see positive operating income of $152 million for the quarter compared to $151 million 3rd Q 2023.

Oh yea, Easter came early, Easter came late, it rained, it snowed, on and on and on. Anything but acknowledging their model is stale and yet despite all the usual bells, whistles and hyperbole, they refuse to deviate very far from it...

@stevieb They are banking on a pretty small audience I think. I am surprised that they offer so very little variety in their hosts or programming.

They really don't even test anything really new. No the 50 thing is just same old products, more screaming and clapping. There is nothing for someone who wants to concentrate on products and some chatting along the way.

QXH Division Operating Income: Positive $107 million

No "losses" reported except in The Cornerstone Group.

Qurate stated that they have a new strategy to be aimed at reaching audiences. They are going to focus that strategy on social media platforms.

Qurate will be announcing that strategy at Liberty's Investor Day on Nov. 14.

Operating Income is definitely not down.

It is up (quarter over quarter) at QXH and basically flat for Qurate in total.

@Tori3569 The adjusted OIBDA (Operating Income Before Depreciation and Amortization) was 278 million in the 3rd quarter of 2023, and 252 million in the 3rd quarter of 2024.

One shouldn't discount completely the impact of the news cycle and competing events on sales among those who watch television in order to buy.

During a significant news event this summer an almost immediate sales drop per hour was seen as viewers switched away. Soon sales per hour had dropped 50%.

Similarly, duting the Olympics Opening Ceremony recorded sales per hour fell about 10%.
