QVC’s Silence is Deafening

Could the pushy selling on programs and on website pause long enough to acknowledge the disaster of hurricane Helene and the devastating loss of lives and property?! Why has there been no effort to offer help to the huge QVC audience!? Greed over compassion.

In the past QVC has shown a screen with Red Cross infomation for people to donate to victims of natural disasters. I am surprised that they are not doing it this time.

There are so many disasters, maybe they decided we all know how to donate to the red cross. If they talked about every flood, fire, blizzard, etc that's all they would talk about. I don't think it's a matter of compassion.

They are under no obligation and shouldn't be expected to immediately have a fundraising campaign in place. I certainly don't expect anything.

How many other major retailers are posting messages on their websites and apps.

I haven't encountered any today. Perhaps someone could provide details about a major national retailer raising funds for this.

This seems like a sad excuse to once again bash QVC/Qurate by someone disgruntled.

Thank you for expressing what I am sure some of us are thinking. I have a hard time believing this is the reality with QVC.

But again, all the attention goes to the Possibilities for women over 50 bombardment. The scope of this storm is literally beyond belief and has caused historical destruction. I would think any large selling tv network would have plans in place to raise contributions to our fellow Americans.

Sure shows priorities I guess. I imagine so many of us will be contributing funds to various charities, but image how much could be generated by asking every customer if they would like to make a comtribution to the specific charity of their choice.

I struggle to find an excuse for this. Of course, there are always some whose attitude is very different.

I agree. I will add that for someone to post such a comment they sound bitter or resentful for some reason.

If QVC has time for the "50 and FAAABULOUS" show, Shawn Killinger constantly spitting coffee and rubbing her nose, and various other shenanigans they can find time to post a screen of the Red Cross information.

As opposed to showing a place for their customers to donate their own money, QVC could state that a portion or $1 or whatever of every order would be donated to the Hurricane disaster effort for the next XX days. That might increase sales a bit and show that QVC is donating some of their profit to the cause. If they do anything at all, they should do that.

But as others have stated, they are under no obligation to do so, and I don't think lesser of them for doing nothing. They seem to just carry on as if all is right with the world.

It is not their responsibility to show people how to donate to the Red Cross, or other organizations, for any event. At this time, everyone knows the legitimate websites, and or organizations to reach out to.

Not for nothing but someone was just complaining about QVC "only" donating 70% of the profits for their end hunger campaign just last week. People were outraged and stated "I ONLY donate to local food banks" and "I don't know why they do not donate 100% of the profits" and so on. I will argue all day about quality or prices of items and lack of professionalism on the part of a few hosts, but this is not their responsibility to always alert the viewer to a disaster in the country or provide a link to the Salvation Army. In this case, Q cannot win for trying at all.

And yes, I have family in the areas impacted and thankfully they are all well and will be fine. Hopefully all those moved will donate where they decide to send their money by their own decision.

I immediately had a similar thought that if QVC/Qurate did something, I have no doubt that they would be accused of exploiting a tragedy for corporate benefit.

The outrage about the recent food charity drive was inexplicable and disturbing. The QVC loathers have contempt for every corporate action.

Take the time to donate rather than log onto the website of a corporation one obviously dislikes.

I do not need QVC to remind me to donate to any organization. I already donate to many charities and my only wish is that I could donate more. I am sure if anyone wants to give donations for the disaster left from the hurricane, they could find a site and do so. I feel very sorry for the people who are suffering and struggling to survive this disaster. It is heart breaking and I hope those in need will get through this in time and be able to move forward. It must be so frightening and sad for all.

The outrage seen here and on their other social media accounts over QVC's Giving for Living charitable programming and outreach was incredibly disheartening.

QVC cannot win for trying. So now, if they've decided that viewers indeed know how to contribute to help others, and don't need to be shown the way -- wonderful. "I give locally" was the mantra of many last week.

No one is stopping anyone from giving and helping, for goodness sake. Saying QVC has no compassion is really something.

@SylvaBelle Why does a business have to express sympathy? They are a business. Not a friend or person or a friend or being, but a place to buy things. We'd all be better off if business stuck to business these days and was all about their products and what they are charging us to buy.

QVC does not present itself as a business. They are trying to get that "we are a big happy family" attitude in their presentations. The hosts and some vendors act like they are life long friends. They walk around in pj's and drinking wine as if they were in their own home. QVC cannot have it both ways.
