Galentines Day?

Now I have heard of everything. Just getting over the Christmas BUY BUY BUY for everyone, now we have to listen to all the suggestions of what to buy for everyone to show them we LOVE them. Please.....enough!! My "gals" do not need gifts. We just enjoy each others company and have a blast!

What does Galantine's day mean in QVC terms? And when and where did it come from?

When I look up the word it means deboned poultry!

QVC is like any other retailer....uses every Hallmark Gimmick Day there is.

They call it 'marketing', clearly others call it annoying, but it isn't going to stop.

If you are all done buying, buying, buying....why would you watch, watch, watch a shopping channel who has no other purpose other than to sell?

Oh, this time I looked up what does Galantine's day mean for Valentines day?

And this is what it says:

"That's right: Galentine's Day—a day for women to celebrate their friendships with their lady friends. It's Valentine's Day with your gals. It's right there in the name."

I guess it's like "Friendsgiving"

QVC didn't initiate this.

It started on an episode of "Parks and Recreation" as an idea from Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) in 2010.

It spread quickly and a number of retailers picked it up as a marketing vehicle.

Good for them! The more holidays the better!

What's Galentine's Day? Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.

@on the bay Just when I was just getting over Friendsgiving, we got Galentine's. I have sent my friends and children Valentine's cards in the past. I don't need an additional day to celebrate my friendships. Valentines Day works for everyone on the same day - as does Thanksgiving.

QVC is no different than any retailer....they offer product, we either buy or not buy. I guess I don't see the problem.

Galentine is usually celebrated on February 13th. My girlfriends and I have been getting together for years to celebrate our friendship. Some of us have been friends for 60 years.....we are 64 now.

It's just an excuse/reason to get together.

@bargainsgirl This is a shopping channel in business to sell things. Of course it is BUY BUY BUY. That is their reason for being. What else do you expect from a shopping outlet.
