Host disappointment

I was so sad to hear Mary DeAngelis say Graham &Rollins are her favorite brand crab cake. Why would this bother me? Mary says she is gluten free. These crab cakes are not gluten free. I have seen her not eat many other items some with more and some with less gluten on the air for years. Sooner or later everyone slips up. For me she is now disengenuous. 😥

This is a job and after many many hours of presenting there's going to be some information that may be slightly exaggerated or somewhat misrepresented. Buyer beware for all sales pitches either on TV or in person.

@Tatanoo46, did Mary say she actually ate the crab cakes or is her consuming them a presumption on your part?

They could be her favorite brand because of the components? I did hear her say that they were 70% (or thereabout) crab which makes them superior to other brands.

Perhaps she meant to say favorite to serve to family? If she has celiac, they would make her sick.. I know because I do serve food with gluten. I just don't eat it myself.

This post is ridiculous. Even if a host shares their health concerns or food preferences, it is entirely up to them to decide how and what they eat—it is utter nonsense to judge someone based on your thoughts about what they should be doing with their diet.

Sometimes I think whatever product the host is presenting makes it seem

to us it is their favorite product, even if they say it or not.

@Tatanoo46 There are things I really like to, but can't tolerate to eat. Im assuming she didn't say why because it would put a negative spin on the product she is selling and that would be dumb, and she isn't dumb. However, can't say the same about your comment.

The hosts are SALES PEOPLE...not celebrities or your friend or 'like family'...their job and livelihood depends on sales, therefore they will say or do whatever they need to sell the product they are presenting.

I don't really want to prolong this pointless discussion, but out of curiosity, I watched the presentation again (I didn't pay much attention originally because I don't eat seafood and therefore didn't care about the deal). At the very beginning, Mary mentioned this is her favorite crab cake brand, but ~~she never tasted them or mentioned eating them during the entire presentation—~~she left most of the product descriptions to the company owner who was on Skype while she demonstrated closeups to the camera in studio. She added comments about how much she loved the company, its focus on quality, and the employees, especially since she had a chance to work with them briefly on one of their boats earlier this year.

For many of us, sales staff need to be credible before you make a purchase from them. It seems many folks give a pass to QVC accepting that their sales staff will tell you anything to make a sale.

If you were buying a car or furniture you go back to sales staff that are dependable, know the products & tell you the truth. If they don't, you usually don't go back to buy from them again.

Many years ago Jill was presenting the Quacker Factory show and slipped up during the presentations and said "well she'd never wear" their shirts. Everytime we watched Jeanne Bice after that we couldn't help but remember and laugh about Jill's comment.

I beg to differ.

Watch the current video at about 2:50 and right after she cuts open a crab cake she takes a big bite.

Now it does look like she gets mostly the inner crab meat and not much of the outer cake part, but she did take at least one bite. I didn't watch the rest of the video.
