Primetime Specials

I click on Primetime specials in the evening and they've been the same items for weeks. Do they ever change?

There's been multiple threads on this. You can search it out for others' opinions but there hasn't been an answer to why it's the same stuff.

Lunchtime Specials use to be at fantastic prices. Now, not quite as good. And those are now even repeats many times.

I'm hoping the new year will bring in a change. We'll have to wait and see.

A while back there was a joke going around over on the fashion forum about a shirt that was on the Lunchtime Specials f-o-r-e-v-e-r . That shirt was was so popular but for all the wrong reasons.

When even the largest companies are struggling to remain profitable, I'm not expecting too much from the medium-size or smaller companies, especially those in need of investment money. The list of retailers using bankruptcy to reorganize has too many familiar names on it!

QVC can afford to run a sale.

@millieshops Curious do you think QVC is in the large or medium sized company category??

@faeriemoon I assume you mean QVC can afford to run deeper sales than they already do. They run lots of sales - but no. I don't think they can match the likes of Amazon and Walmart. Both of them are many times bigger than Qurate is and most important, neither Amazon or Walmart derive all their income from selling merchandise.

Curious, what makes you think QVC can compete on prices?

@millieshops We're talking about a particular sale called Lunchtime Specials (or Primetime Specials). These sales feature clearance merchandise that is either out of season or small supply (for the most part), which is code for "dumping ground". They aren't competing with anyone when they offer this kind of sale; they're getting rid of merchandise. ALL retailers have sales to dump merchandise; they can't afford NOT to.

@faeriemoon In theory, we agree with each other, but myriad companies that miscalculated how to garner purchases have disappeared even after filing more than once to reorganize.
