Hosts should not be hosting their own clothing lines

Hosts should either be hosting or presenting their own line not both, Last night PM style was ridiculous and all over the place. Even putting the models on the spot to say they like everything. If she wants to be a vendor then she should go to another show (or have a hour) where she is hosted by another host. The show becomes all about them and their items which have very limited quanties. I would say the same thing about any other host that with studio park lines. Things sell out but they really don't if you look after the show ends. I feel bad for anyone else that was trying to be an ambassdor for other items than hers last night. And again I would say the same thing regardless who is doing a line. All other brands shows are not run by the designers there is always a host with them to keep things on track and contained

Sorry, but I disagree. I like the hosts designing a few items and don't mind at all them presenting their designs. I wish they had more quantities. I didn't care for all the hosts designs last year, but I did purchase a few of them. Something new, I'm all for it.

Well, I thought the show was really good and bought 3 things. I love Amy's style and can't imagine anyone else presenting her little collection.

Well, that's an interesting perspective.

Since you neglected to even hint at who you're talking about, it's hard to give you feedback.

Susan Graver is a designer and her presentations are often all over the place. This is nothing new.

I wonder if much of what you thought was "wrong" was merely that person's personality. Whether it's the hosts, designer or vendors they aren't all cookie cutter duplicates of everyone else. They won't all behave or present product the same way.

It's been my experience with QVC presentations that some are good. Some .. not so good.

Gosh, did you forget that QVC is a shopping channel?

I am sure the management made the decision to allow hosts to have their own designs IF it makes the company more money!

I believe the hosts are so excited and so proud that they cannot stop talking about their items--it is just a natural human reaction.

The collections are so small compared to everything else that QVC sells, so it does not take any effort to not watch or shop.

If only the the world was really so simple that the only thing people could complain about is not liking shopping channel selections.

Hosts do what their employer, QVC, requires them to do. Like most people they must follow the guideline set in place for them.

@why again The host clothing lines are not owned by the hosts and they are not vendors. Their lines are a collaboration with QVC as far as the OK for the designs but they are not products being sold by outside vendors. For example, Leah, does not own her line. She is not a vendor.

There have been former hosts that leave hosting to become vendors, owning their own companies and selling on QVC.

I haven't watched in a long time, and last night I "watched" from 8pm to 2am (I had it on while doing other things, the way I usually watch), and even watched some of the 6 and 7pm shows too.

I thought this was one of the most watchable fashion nights in a long time. It was a really good product mix and actually even too fast paced for me since I was multitasking. None or just the right amount of silly banter (none that I recall). Happy to see Dennis Basso back, but disappointed he doesn't have the number of models he used to have and I don't understand why QVC is not giving this designer his due. I was also very happy to see blond Maria modeling the Basso show, one of the items that I bought last night. I hadn't seen her since before the pandemic, and she is not the youngest gal. Happy to see she seems to be doing well.

This was my first time I think watching the new Shawn show, and was surprised she had 3 models and the better production values instead of PM Style. She was better than usual and looked great, and said no more pjs for her! We will see how long that lasts.

I bought 3 items last night, and I would have bought more if it was in my budget.

Honestly, I don't think the hosts are involved in the design of the items with their names. Maybe they say what they would like to have their name attached to, and the designers work with that. But a lot of these collaboration items have not been that attractive. I think it's a way to experiment, since their in house designers probably design most of the clothing sold only on QVC anyway, due to the design limitations they impose, which many actual designers have referred to (Louis Dell'Ollio, Bob Mackie and George Simonton come to mind).

What would be the conflict? QVC owns the merchandise, not the host.

@ValuSkrNot a conflict of interest because the host doesn't own "their own line." It's still QVC's clothes and the profit goes to QVC.

All clothing lines are represented and sold by their owners, designers, etc.

I don't care who hosts. I don't care who is the vendor. I watch what little I like and then shop around for better prices on the same or very similar items. I never watch Q if the host or vendor bugs me.

What one doesn't like, others like. It's called life.

Do some posters actually believe that the participating hosts actually own, control, fund, finance and design these "lines?"

It's all Qurate controlled, all the way.

I imagine the hosts confer with buyers about preferences and personal style likes, but that's about it. I believe that a few hosts have over-embellished their role and power.

They may get a few extra $$$ in the year-end bonus check for playing along.
